Mars sesquiquadrate: Generally, things have turned out as they are, if what resulted can be called relationships, and what occurred—accumulation. This person finds it difficult in the planet’s spheres to direct their energy with flexible responsiveness to circumstances and to react subtly to external force. Another’s aggression triggers in them a counter-response, often inadequate in intensity and relevance. At the same time, they may fail to react for a long time to weak influences, then suddenly, in response to a minor irritation—the drop that overflows an unrelated cup—explode with outrage: subjectively perhaps justified, but objectively unfair. This person will suffer from the coarseness, energy, and aggression of the outer world directed at them; they will find it hard to deal with these forces in a sufficiently civilized manner. Yet at the same time, their aggressive instincts in the planet’s spheres will be especially crude and poorly controlled, and their activity will often, without their own awareness, take on harsh forms. For example, an unworked Mars-Saturn sesquiquadrate brings, along with vulnerability to aggression, also rigidity in demands toward others, which may reach intransigence; it is important for such a person to understand that high demands toward others are usually subconsciously motivated by dissatisfaction with oneself, and to become aware of their own failures and shortcomings. Here, working through the aspect provides perfect instruments and enables operation at high vibrational levels of energy. Chiron sesquiquadrate: If one lies on one’s side, the higher and lower beginning become, respectively, the right and left. This aspect gives a tendency to use ideas and methods whose true meaning is inaccessible to the person, and whose side effects are unclear and unpredictable. This is a dangerous aspect, especially for people with a strong Saturn capable of prolonged, focused engagement, with deep but narrow penetration into poorly studied areas. The Chiron sesquiquadrate creates a temptation to crudely use subtle instruments, whose power may manifest very unexpectedly and turn the person from a subject into an object of a karmic experiment. A typical example of the unworked Chiron sesquiquadrate is represented by attempts at materialistic-“scientific” study and application of esoteric techniques involving perception of the astral and causal planes, traditionally transmitted from teacher to prepared student. Here, amateurism quickly leads to the person’s subjugation to a rigid magical egregore and loss of free will and thought (in pronounced cases, to desocialization and mental illness). Proper working through the aspect grants the possibility of breakthrough into previously practically inaccessible spheres of the subtle world, and of functioning adequately within them through strange but entirely real methods and instruments which the person perceives as physical, although their effect extends into subtle realms.
