Mars tridecile: A barrel of luck cannot replace a spoon of conscience. This aspect gives a person the opportunity and desire to direct their energy in the areas of the Planet toward supporting life in the forms in which they are inclined to perceive it. Through active engagement in this life, self-expression successfully takes place—i.e., external realization, and often incidentally also the shaping of inner life—which, when worked through, gives them a sense of belonging specifically to the human race, a rare and precious experience for the average person. The condition of the Planet makes the task of supporting life processes difficult, and Mars’ affliction brings coarseness to the person’s energy, yet at the same time emphasizes the tridecile as one of the pathways toward its harmonization. Subjectively, this manifests as the person becoming softer and more delicate in the Planet’s areas, without fully understanding why, as if someone constantly reminds them: “Careful, life!” (An attentive observer will notice the softening effect of the decile, quintile, and their derivatives in people who have fallen the lowest). If Mars is harmonious, the person’s energy in the Planet’s sphere will generally be directed successfully, supporting life (in the case of Mars-Pluto tridecile, by effectively eliminating its parasites), which will seem perfectly natural to the individual, yet the results will inspire them more than they expect. Chiron tridecile: On the axle of the cart of life are positioned: on one side, the wheel of fortune, on the other, the cross of fate. When worked through, this aspect grants in the Planet’s areas, first, standard and unexpected insight into and understanding of life and developmental processes in general, and second, the ability to participate in these processes, materially and constructively resolving problems that previously seemed fundamentally unsolvable. Initially, the aspect may manifest as a sudden interest in manifestations of life within the Planet’s areas, placing the person in an intellectual dead end, exceeding their previous worldview. Overall, this aspect is harmonious and in some cases may provide protection by fate, but its most pronounced expressions occur with the person’s conscious involvement in life-development issues within the Planet’s sphere of influence, where they will reveal pronounced creative abilities and receive (as a result of honest effort, if they prove capable—here one must examine the horoscope as a whole and work through Saturn’s expression with great sense of humor). Chiron’s affliction will, admittedly, make it the most regular object of such humor, yet when processed, will allow understanding and participation in a much broader spectrum of interesting and vital matters within the Planet’s sphere than with a weak or harmonious Chiron.
