Tridecile of Mercury: While remaining alone with one’s thoughts, beware lest they grow dull. This person is vividly interested in manifestations and developmental difficulties of life within the spheres of the Planet; they will tend to apply their intellect there, or at least speak about these topics. Here, working through provides good opportunities for rational understanding of life development issues within the Planet’s spheres and potential mental liveliness directed toward their resolution. By realizing their mental abilities in this way, the person will feel great satisfaction from the human essence within themselves. This aspect gives a need (and opportunities) for self-expression in the Planet’s sphere through mental activity, and during integration this self-expression will be both lively and interesting to others. For example, a Mercury-Jupiter tridecile, when integrated, may produce an original and direct spiritual leader, with a quick and inventive mind, authoritative precisely to the necessary degree: “…for My burden is light”… at a lower level, the person will consider themselves an exceptional expert (and benefactor) in life manifestations of analysis, both in philosophical generalizations, and overall gives life-giving energy, yet the thought of life itself about its successes in these areas will concern them little. Tridecile of Mars: A barrel of cunning does not replace a spoon of conscience. This aspect gives the person opportunities and desire to direct their energy within the Planet’s spheres toward supporting life, in the forms in which they are inclined to perceive it. Through energetic involvement in this life, their self-expression successfully occurs—that is, external realization, and often incidentally also the shaping of inner life—which, when integrated, gives them a sense of belonging specifically to the human race, a rare and precious feeling for the average person. The Planet’s position makes the task of supporting life processes difficult, and Mars’ debility gives coarseness to the person’s energy, yet at the same time emphasizes the tridecile as one of the paths to its harmonization. This latter point subjectively manifests as the person becoming softer and more delicate within the Planet’s spheres, without fully understanding why, as if someone constantly reminds them: “Careful, life!” (An attentive observer will notice the softening effect of the decile, quintile, and their derivatives in people who have fallen the lowest). If Mars is harmonious, the person’s energy in the Planet’s sphere will typically be directed successfully, supporting life (in the case of Mars-Pluto tridecile, through effective elimination of its parasites), which will be self-evident to the person, yet the result will inspire them more than they realize.
