Your child is a Sagittarius
Birthday: November 22 – December 21.
Understanding the innate traits of your child, as revealed by their natal chart (horoscope), gives you undeniable advantages in their upbringing. You will be better informed from the start and find it easier to determine what to focus on first, how to strengthen those character traits that are naturally weak, how to correct negative manifestations, and which of your child’s qualities are strong from birth.
Upbringing and development that take into account the child’s personal traits are much better for the growing individual, easier and more effective for the parents, and most importantly—both adults and children derive immense satisfaction simply from communicating with one another.
Below, you will find general information about the character of a child with the Sun in Sagittarius.
This is the ninth article in the series Child Astrology. If it provides an imperfect description of your child, do not be surprised—this is not the case. This article does not account for the information of the other 11 planets and their interrelationships. Read more here.
Sagittarius children are cheerful and freedom-loving idealists—you will never be bored with them.
1. Even as toddlers, Sagittarius children respond positively to everything unusual, unexplored, and the opportunity to gain new impressions and learn something no one else knows or has ever seen. They are usually full of enthusiasm and inspiration.
Physical activity has a beneficial effect on Sagittarians of all ages; children often try to start walking early. Since Sagittarius children are naturally quite active and energetic, they need regular outdoor walks, freedom to move as much as their active nature demands, and plenty of fresh air.
- Sagittarius children attract other children with their liveliness and positive attitude toward everything that happens—they are little adventurers, always ready for an adventure, and the farther from home, the more appealing the “expedition.” Unlike Leos, who gather children around them and strive to be the center of attention, Sagittarians do not care about being the focus of everyone’s gaze; what matters to them is that it be unusual.
2. They always hope for the best.
Representatives of this zodiac sign are well-known for their carefree nature and positive outlook on life.
Sometimes this Sagittarian optimism can lead to your child relying too much on luck. You may find that your Sagittarius rarely studies for an exam, hoping that the questions they don’t know simply won’t appear, or takes unnecessary risks. In certain situations, you will need to firmly insist on following rules, both for their personal safety and for success in life.
3. Flow of energy (activity, impulsiveness).
Your Sagittarius child can sometimes resemble a firework in terms of energy. Sagittarians are especially drawn to the outdoors, active sports, and may even set off on their own to explore the surroundings. Even if your Sagittarius child shows little interest in traditional sports, they will channel their energy into something else—perhaps dancing or climbing trees. In principle, it can be any activity that allows them to express their love for action and their desire to assert themselves through deeds.
Adult Sagittarians are known for their love of travel. It is hard to say whether they enjoy packing suitcases more or setting off to explore the unknown and distant. Perhaps they travel more than any other sign of the zodiac. There is no place in the world that would seem too boring or too dangerous to a Sagittarius if there is a chance to see new sights and meet interesting people.
The flip side of such an active nature is that Sagittarians quickly grow bored. Before your child even returns from a friend’s birthday party, they may start fidgeting and, with a smile, suggest going somewhere else, even if it’s late in the evening.
Sagittarius children, like adults, can engage in an activity intensely, and afterward still have energy left for something else, and then something else again… While other children, even those who are quite resilient, may already be exhausted. At the same time, without sufficient mobility and the ability to release their energy, without appropriate mental stimulation, Sagittarians can quickly lose interest and become irritable. A lack of activity and boredom can also sour their mood. Where your offspring directs their boundless energy largely depends on how well you can provide them with a variety of interesting and unconventional activities.
4. Independence and love of freedom.
All Sagittarians, regardless of age, are distinguished by their love of freedom and independence. Your young Sagittarius may set off to explore the surroundings on their own without a word to anyone, or start reading books or pursuing interests that you clearly did not suggest. Personal freedom is highly valued by Sagittarians, so make sure your child has, if not a room, then at least a certain space they can consider their own. Also, give them the freedom to decide for themselves what to believe in and what to value. This will make it much easier for you to build a relationship with your child than if you force them to rigidly adhere to everything you consider correct.
5. Another characteristic trait of many Sagittarians is their tendency to express their opinions frankly and without polite embellishments. On the one hand, this quality helps build trusting, honesty-based relationships between parents and children. At the same time, your Sagittarius needs to learn that in certain situations, some diplomacy is necessary. You may be upset if your daughter suddenly says that your new haircut does not suit you at all, or at a friend’s house, remarks that the painting they are so proud of is hanging upside down.
From time to time, such frankness from your child may put you in awkward situations at social events, and you may occasionally wish they had a bit of the tactfulness typical of Libras. In any case, Sagittarians do not express themselves this way to intentionally offend anyone.
6. Impulsiveness and idealism.
Your child is unlikely to be motivated in life by power, money, or purely material success. They thrive when they have the freedom to “wander” in the world of ideas, philosophy, and human values. This does not mean that Sagittarians are prone to daydreaming. Rather, they are deeply interested in how social and societal structures work and how they can be improved for the benefit of all humanity. Sagittarians are drawn to life’s big-picture questions, humanity’s transformation, and they strive to rise above the mundane and aim high.
Motivation—the opportunity to take part in something unusual and experimental.
