Sextile of Mars: Work may be a difficult duty or a means of livelihood, but never an honorable pursuit. The sextile of Mars gives a person the opportunity to refine and raise the vibrational level of the energetic flow inherent to the Planet. This indicates prospects for constructive activity, during which the Planet (and Mars) is incidentally processed, and in which the individual learns to harmonize their strength and energy with the needs of the Planet—presenting certain difficulties and requiring effort, though not perceived as excessive. If, on the contrary, one rejects all possibilities for constructive activity related to the Planet, after some time they may feel that the energy within them finds no satisfying outlet, becomes stagnant, and over time may lead to depression, feelings of inferiority, or sudden disharmonious energy outbursts (aggression from the external environment).
From the standpoint of inner life, this aspect allows raising the frequency of one’s own energy, occurring through interaction and visible adaptation of subconscious programs related to the Planet, and energetic—particularly ancient instincts—which thereby acquire a more civilized form. Here, processing enables the redirection of destructive and low energy from the external world into constructive frameworks. For example, a well-integrated sextile Mars–Pluto may produce an educator working with antisocial teenagers.
Sextile of Saturn: A person’s life should be such that it is worth understanding. The sextile of Saturn gives the individual opportunities for deep processing in the areas ruled by the Planet. However, one must be able to recognize these opportunities, since Saturn’s handwriting, especially at lower levels of processing, tends to make a person focus more on misfortunes related to external limitations, rather than on development and processing of entirely non-obvious plans and prospects. At the same time, Saturn’s influence makes the individual inwardly serious and purposeful in the areas ruled by the Planet, but they must become consciously aware of this, rather than repressing it into the subconscious (which is quite possible at lower levels, especially in fire- and air-dominant horoscopes).
Saturn invites the individual to deeply engage with the Planet’s issue, to thoroughly understand the influence of its principle on inner life, and only then to take active external steps. It promises deep penetration into the mysteries of the Planet, wise mastery and control over it—but within the framework of karma, which in this case imposes significant limitations that must be learned to recognize.
At the moment of sextile activation, the individual experiences a certain freezing, external and internal inhibition, as if inviting them to look inward more attentively and thoroughly sort out the planetary principle (usually through the material of a specific problem arising from intensified external or internal limitations). If the person stubbornly ignores Saturn’s invitations, Saturn may freeze the Planet, after which the individual will study its principle under compulsion. For example, attempts at frivolous attitudes toward love (in any of its forms) with a sextile Saturn–Venus may produce a completely heartless person, to whom karma later sends, for instance, a passionately loved yet equally indifferent granddaughter, forcing them to experience torments similar to those they once caused.
