Sun – Mars Conjunction

Conjunction Sun – Mars Het Monster: Willpower and courage, the masculine aspect. The house where the conjunction is located is characterized by great activity, as are the houses ruled by the Sun and Mars. Irritability, excitability. Unfavorable for military matters. Aspect of magicians (when Mars precedes the Sun — miracle-worker, when Mars follows the Sun — sorcerer).

Catherine Obje: Conjunction Sun – Mars
Conjunction: the person seeks self-realization, expressing aggression and activity. This is energy, independence, bravery (all shades and nuances depend on the sign in which the conjunction is placed). Ambition, active nature, impatience. For a woman whose chart contains this aspect, the image of a “knight without fear or blame” is especially attractive.

A. Podvodny: Conjunction Sun – Mars
Conjunction of a Planet with the Sun imparts an imperative quality to its manifestations—at a high level of aspect integration. At a low level, the imperative relates more to the necessity of integrating the Planet. The Sun highlights the lower expressions of its principle and activates them, primarily through direct pressure. At a low level of Sun integration, it acts through rigid imperatives imposed upon the Planet, suppressing its creative impulse and forcing its principle to manifest within very narrowly defined boundaries, into which it fundamentally cannot fit—resulting in excessive inner tension and an explosion, wherein creativity manifests itself precisely in the form and trajectory of fragments. If the conjunction is unprocessed but well-aspected, these explosions will be more dangerous to others, and the Planet’s creative impulse will manifest only through a path of harshly egotistical consumption in the spheres corresponding to its principle. For example, an unprocessed conjunction of the Sun with Mars produces great but futile activity, which, however, seems extremely important and useful to the person themselves, and on the other hand, the ability to completely drain another’s energy, leaving the other person literally powerless and without even a hint of gratitude.

Processing the conjunction (and the Sun) brings a shift to a higher egregor, where solar initiative moves beyond the rigid command, serving instead as a suggestion of a desired direction of activity, and above all, attention. Then the interaction between the Sun and the Planet is significantly eased, and the Planet receives from the Sun a kind of subtle magnetization, which serves as orientation in complex (for the Planet) conditions, when the optimal choice is not obvious.

Conjunction with Mars: True burden is invisible. True strength is imperceptible. Conjunction with Mars gives the Planet strength—at a low level, destructive. The Planet’s principle seems inflated by energy, but, lacking the ability to channel it constructively, most often manifests through aggression and destruction. For example, an unprocessed conjunction of Mars with the Moon produces aggression directed toward one’s own body, and with Saturn—extraordinary obstacles when attempting introspection and concentration, for instance, a window suddenly shatters from a football thrown in unexpectedly. Here, integration involves less the suppression of excess energy in the areas ruled by the Planet (although initially this skill is necessary), and more the refinement of the conjunction’s energy, raising the corresponding vibrations. For example, with Mars conjunct the Moon, it is better not to develop muscular strength, but to learn psychic energy management, etc.; and with Mars conjunct Saturn, it is better to direct effort not toward fighting temptations and distractions, but toward increasing the depth of concentration and the power of focus. At a high level, Mars provides the Planet with exactly the energy it needs in each specific case, qualitatively enhancing its creative potential. But for this, one must recognize the fallacy of the seemingly attractive principle that “strong means good,” and eliminate the forceful subjugation of the Planet to Mars, typical of low and middle levels—especially evident in Mars conjunct Venus, where a person for a long time perceives and values beauty only when it contains an element of visible strength.
