Mercury’s biquintile: When you cast a line, puppets usually surface. This aspect at low and medium levels gives the individual in the planet’s spheres an appearance of rational understanding of lower forms of life and a mental interest in them. However, their thoughts in this direction will be marked by a certain liveliness, and with a harmonious Mercury, they may prove useful—at least, the charm of their speech will not be wasted, and skill in organizing the functioning of lower life for personal benefit may be extraordinary: this is the aspect of the colonizer. Afflicted, the Mercury-Pluto biquintile may produce a ruthless slave trader, though this is rather an exception; at the medium level, the person still attempts, albeit condescendingly, to be humane toward natives, striving to develop (to the extent accessible) their rational thinking and appealing to it. If Mercury is afflicted, this will initially fail—someone with such a biquintile may seriously attempt to appeal to the logic and reason of a one-year-old child. If the planet is afflicted, the person’s rational reasoning, despite being entirely correct, will be ineffective, and they will have to rely on intuition and innate humanity, which may suggest a behavior that is logically obscure but accurate in the most complicated situations. Neptune’s biquintile: Even geese have their mantras. This aspect grants in the planet’s spheres affection for lower forms of life and compassion toward them; at a high level, subtle understanding and humane treatment, where the individual acts as a higher being, that is, a kind of deity. At a low level, true understanding is absent, but the person seeks lower life in search of lower meditations, profaning themselves down to it and achieving a lower octave of those feelings and experiences which, in the higher variant, are desired but inaccessible without special effort. For example, the Neptune-Mercury or Neptune-Venus biquintile may produce a socially established and non-drinking individual who adores conversations with vagrants, alcoholics, etc., voluntarily helping them obtain their next dose or simply offering moral support through agreement and reinforcement. Here, there is an attachment to lower forms of life, but the help provided benefits less the recipient than the helper (indirect gratification of suppressed desires for freedom and immediate joy of life). When Neptune is afflicted, various distortions in the perception of lower forms of life are possible, along with inadequate (though often poorly understood why) involvement, making the situation very difficult to manage, or even requiring consideration of specific lower programs of the subconscious activated within the individual. A harmonious Neptune presents a distorted rosy picture of lower life and the person’s role within it, and even minimal successful involvement in its problems will bring the person into an euphoric state, although real results may be practically nonexistent; still, the harmonious biquintile bestows a natural grace radiating from the person toward lower forms of life, and children and dogs will love them unconditionally.
