Ketu in Scorpio
Avessalom Podvodny. Planets in the Zodiac Signs
Here the soul encounters some of the most difficult karmic lessons. Previous lives were abundantly strewn with certain endings, as the Plutonian force of Scorpio worked through its process of transformation. Now the individual is so frightened by memories of how the rug was constantly pulled out from under his feet that he assumes a defensive stance toward anyone offering advice about rebirth. In past incarnations, he literally walked through the fires of hell to burn away his false values. Now, instead of turning to the remnants of Scorpio still within him, the individual must build through Taurus a new set of essential values by which to live.
Almost all people with this nodal position once confronted the power of sorcery, so in this life there must be a sharp awakening regarding any residue of the lower self that remains. In past incarnations this individual also dealt with powerful sexual impulses that continually threw him off balance. As a result, he became accustomed to seeking gratification in all manner of relationships that ultimately proved destructive to his personal ego. Then, dismayed and embittered by the spectacle of everything collapsing around him, he is almost glad to help in the destruction of what little remains.
Most conditions of this life are still governed from a subconscious level buried far below the curious gaze of society. The individual may appear sociable and friendly while secretly plotting some mysterious, risky intrigue. Before giving a precise interpretation, it is necessary to carefully examine the chart to see how far the soul has emerged from Scorpio. Those who are already closer to Taurus purposefully avoid the turbulent stirring of Scorpio. In those who have only just emerged from Scorpio, inner upheavals continue.
Planets forming a conjunction with either of the Nodes will pull the person toward that Node and literally force the individual to experience it in the present life. For all people with this nodal position, the past upheaval was so intense that there will inevitably be repercussions in relationships with family members and close loved ones. Each day seems to be filled with new unforeseen events until one crisis, layered upon another, drives the person to fight for survival.
He has not yet learned gentleness and restraint, nor does he take things at face value, still believing that other people always have hidden motives. He feels he must constantly flee from punishment, and in his flight leaves behind tornado-like destruction of all that he once held dear. Sometimes he sees others suddenly change their attitude toward him, but rarely pauses long enough to realize that he himself is the cause.
Whether he is working through past incarnations in Scorpio or advancing through Taurus, his fixed stubbornness represents much of his deeply rooted way of doing anything. He will make great progress when he can see the actions of others as a reflection of his own subconscious! In past incarnations the individual was accustomed to a state that, in the absence of an outlet, turned into anger. He carries deep scars from insults, and now, like a wounded animal, he can be merciless toward anyone who poses the slightest threat.
At lower levels of consciousness, individuals with this nodal position may stalk their victim, carrying out personal blood vengeance. Then, when the wreckage falls apart, they appear as innocent victims while carefully plotting their victory. Because of the intense emotions constantly seeking expression, they need a creative outlet. Sexual desire must be transformed into Divine Love. All conditions that fill life with bitterness from past incarnations must be cast out of consciousness until a new seed of the world is revealed.
The South Node in Scorpio must burn the bridges of the past and make a decision for the good, following the example of Lot’s wife: “Never look back!” Through the North Node in Taurus, the individual must learn not to waste or squander his strength. His greatest achievements in this life occur when, having loved the earth on which he lives, he appreciates the source of constant nourishment and support.
Throughout lifetimes he has misused his energy, impulses, and desires, feeling alone amid all the oppression and suffering that afflict humanity. Now, through the sensitive impressions of his North Node in Taurus, he must gain awareness that the abundance in the universe is so great that he will always have what he needs. He must learn to distinguish between what he wants and what he needs, for although he does not always have the opportunity to fulfill what he wants, he is at every moment surrounded by all that he needs!
When he reaches for his North Node in Taurus, he finally attains stability. Seeing all that is now offered to him, he must stop feeling deceived. Ultimately, in this life he is destined to achieve a state of satisfaction when the boiling volcanoes of Scorpio dissolve into the blue waters of harmony in Taurus—where the beloved Gautama Buddha left his blessing. This is truly a transition from lives of war to the garden of the world.
The position of the South Node in the house indicates the area of life where any remnant of Scorpio battles must be overcome, while the position of the North Node in the house shows the area of life where a new awareness of trust and reliability can ultimately replace the battles raging below.
