Chiron was in Cancer from 1937 to 1940. In Cancer, Chiron is in the Moon’s domicile, in Jupiter’s exaltation, and in an air element sign. In this position, it manifests quite harmoniously. The main contradiction lies between the sign’s domestic nature and the planet’s wandering character. From a representative of the plastic water sign, Chiron can create an hysteroid type that masks complexes. You may be characterized by capriciousness and changeability. The air element planet here brings wanderlust, giving rise to the prodigal son. The better you live, the more you strive to escape from home. Often, you feel unsettled in family life; instability is typical for you—you may have two families and different homes. Sometimes, you are drawn to both wandering and home simultaneously: this duality is how Chiron manifests. In the best case, you experience subtle, elusive inner transformations. You may fully grasp the spirit of ancestors and ancient traditions. Often, you become archaeologists who revive ancient authorities. In the worst case, you may be prone to cunning and deceit, subtle deception (and the more you lie, the more you believe it yourself).

Materialized Cancer. Chiron provides Cancer with steps by which it can descend into its own depths without losing ground. Chiron materializes many of Cancer’s subconscious programs and brings them into consciousness—if Cancer is ready to perceive them. Chiron also (in the processed aspect variant) gives Cancer the ability to sort through the depths of its subconscious and understand which programs are outdated, which belong to the lower “self,” and which are newly created by the higher self. Chiron facilitates Cancer’s self-expression program, offering unexpected paths where deep essential and emotional experiences are hidden behind an outwardly material form. It seems like everything is as usual, yet the effect is miraculous. In the unprocessed variant, Chiron seems to knock on Cancer’s consciousness, creating various unimaginable situations (including interactions) that are meant (as in Zen Buddhism) to overturn its stereotyped perception programs, especially emotional and essential ones, and show Cancer itself from the inside and in a completely different way. Chiron at least confuses, and how constructive this turns out to be depends on the person. In the higher octave of this aspect, a person gains the ability to build their essence, deep subconscious programs with the participation of their mind and will—that is, to directly influence their spiritual growth (and, of course, the spiritual development of others).
