Chiron was here from 1937 to 1940. In Cancer, Chiron is located in the house of the Moon, in Jupiter’s exaltation, in a sign of the Air element. In this position, it manifests quite harmoniously. The main contradiction lies between the home-oriented nature of the sign and the wandering nature of the planet. From a sensitive water sign individual, Chiron may create an asteroidal type that masks complexes. You may well exhibit capriciousness and changeability. The Air planet brings travel here, generating the prodigal son. The better your life becomes, the stronger your urge to break away from home. Often you feel unsettled in family life; instability is typical for you—you may have two families and different homes. Sometimes you are drawn simultaneously to wandering and to home: this is how Chiron’s duality manifests. In the best case, you experience smooth, subtle inner transformations. You can fully grasp the spirit of ancestors and ancient traditions. Often these are archaeologists who revive ancient authorities. In the worst case, you may display cunning and deceitfulness, subtle deception (and the more you lie, the more you believe yourself).

Materialized Cancer. Chiron provides Cancer with steps by which it can descend into its own depths without losing ground beneath its feet. Chiron materializes many of Cancer’s subconscious programs and brings them into conscious awareness—if Cancer is ready to accept them. Chiron also (in the well-integrated version of the aspect) gives Cancer the ability to sort through the depths of its subconscious, understanding which programs are outdated, which belong to the lower “self,” and which have just been created by the higher self. Chiron facilitates Cancer’s self-expression, offering unexpected paths where, behind an outwardly material form, deep essential and emotional experiences are hidden. Everything seems as usual, yet the effect is miraculous. In the unprocessed variant, Chiron knocks at Cancer’s consciousness, creating various inconceivable situations (in communication and elsewhere) designed (as in Zen Buddhism) to overturn its stereotyped patterns of perception, especially emotional and essential ones, showing it itself from within, in an entirely different way. At the very least, Chiron throws one into confusion; how constructive this turns out to be depends on the individual. In the higher octave of this aspect, a person gains the ability to build their essence and deep subconscious programs with the participation of their mind and will—thus directly influencing their spiritual growth (and, naturally, the spiritual development of others).
