Venus Quintile: When there is no love in life, there is no life at all. This aspect brings vivacity to the planet’s spheres in social contacts and aesthetic preferences, as well as spontaneity in expressions of love. In these areas, the individual will be suffocated by the routine and backwardness typical of society as a whole. Even a minor affliction of Venus can create difficulties in social interactions: on one hand, liveliness and spontaneity in others will attract them, but on the other, their own expressions may appear less vibrant and more awkward. A strong affliction of Venus may lead to psychological blocks and complete rejection of any spontaneous behavior. At a low level, the Venus quintile produces a socially stereotyped attitude toward expressions of life in oneself and others, along with a tendency to parasitize on such expressions in social situations of the outer world—especially if the individual has low energy levels. Examples include many educators who feed (often with sadistic elements) on the emotions and spontaneous energetic expressions of children and adolescents. Similarly, lower-octave art critics play an analogous parasitic role. Harmonious aspects to the quintile bring appreciation from people for natural liveliness and creative initiative in the planet’s spheres—yet only with careful development. Jupiter Quintile: A great number of locust species will not confuse the truly faithful. In its harmonious form, this is an exceptionally life-affirming aspect: in the planet’s spheres, the individual will experience breadth and abundance of life expressions, though not necessarily of the highest quality. At a low level, there will be a tendency to consume them; for example, a harmonious Jupiter-Venus quintile produces a lover of life with an erotic emphasis, whose charm is very difficult for the opposite sex to resist. Affliction of Jupiter at a low level produces life expressions in the planet’s sphere that may disturb those around, while the individual, absorbed in themselves, often fails to notice. Here, life expressions will be numerous, but they will grossly fail to correspond to the environment’s needs or the forms in which they were raised—potentially leading to serious troubles. The karmic meaning for the individual lies in realizing that when opening possibilities for life expressions to others and revealing their own, they should consider how suitable and needed these expressions truly are: Jupiter demands this awareness automatically, yet requires special effort from the person. Proper integration brings in the planet’s areas a broad and powerful life current, support for the development of many life forms, and the ability to revitalize seemingly hopelessly dead forms destined for destruction. In its harmonious variant, without proper work, the individual will either feed many parasites with their vitality, or eventually become one of them.
