Child’s Moon in Taurus

“How does your child perceive the mother?” Your child perceives the mother as authoritative, conservative, sensible, yet always reliable.

“What does he need to feel confident and secure?” Your child will need a stronger sense of security than others; he must know that there are certain things he can rely on—such as a father who is like a “granite crag,” always present and meeting expectations. A lack of reliability in relationships or surroundings may be compensated for by overeating, an increased interest in acquiring material things, or something similar.

Do not rush this child. Do not hurry him unless there is an absolute need to do so. Create a schedule or routine that you both follow and on which he can depend. Try not to spring too many surprises unless you are sure they will be pleasant ones. Hold him close more often when he is very small. As he grows, try to set aside time before bed when you can both settle down together and read a book. If your time with the child is limited, make sure he knows what to expect and where you will be when you return.

The child should be wary of becoming too emotionally attached to people, places, or things.

Taurus is the sign of the Moon’s exaltation. This means that emotions and personality will be fully expressed from birth. Such children are emotionally stable. They have a clear idea of what they want in life from an early age. They seek comfort, luxury, wealth, and all kinds of material comforts. You will need to explain that there are other kinds of values in life. They have a strong desire for security, which they satisfy by accumulating things or forming attachments to people. Make it clear to your child that the world of possessions is unstable and material goods can easily be lost, while excessive attachment to others can lead to tears and heartache. Children with the Moon in Taurus are quite stubborn and dislike change, especially when it affects their immediate environment. If you want to alter something in such a child’s life, it may be met with resistance and a firm refusal. Try to show the child what is in it for him; that may give you a chance. Just remember that familiarity is something these children do not tolerate.

Having the Moon in Taurus gives your child a rather decisive character, which is undoubtedly an advantage—if this quality is used appropriately. These children have endurance and perseverance; their energy does not wane. They can become formidable opponents. Teach your child to use the advantages of their character wisely. Explain that excessive persistence borders on stubbornness, that the world is constantly changing, and that resisting this is simply futile. You should broaden the child’s horizons and tactfully encourage them to do so. Help them develop a positive self-image; this is truly important for them.

By nature, children with the Moon in Taurus are very conservative and cautious. They love good food, music, art—in other words, everything that makes life more pleasant. They always indulge their weaknesses in this regard. They are tender in love, wanting to love and be loved. And, of course, they cannot be denied their charm, which they wield quite skillfully.

It is true—such children are slow to act, but if you motivate them, there will be no further issues. They are kind, patient, and generally very pleasant to be around. But only up to a point. If provoked, they can become terrible monsters.

Direct action does not always work with them; sometimes it is useful to take a roundabout approach. But be careful—you must be attentive and gentle, as they are highly sensitive to both physical and emotional pain. And one more thing: logical reasoning does not always work on them, especially if they have set their mind on an idea. It is difficult, almost impossible, to convince them. This is especially true of young children—they take pride in their stubbornness. If you decide to resort to punishment, the most effective approach is to deprive the child of pleasures.

Children whose Moon was in Taurus at birth are overly categorical in their judgments; they constantly swing from one extreme to another, seeing things as either black or white. Try to explain to the child that it is unwise to limit their world with artificially created boundaries.

It is very beneficial for them to read, especially about the cultures of different peoples; this will help them change their value system. Such children are often a little lazy, so it is worth occasionally encouraging them to take action. Do not forget to explain to your child that a sense of security should come from within, and help them believe in their own strengths. Teach them to love themselves and to love life as it is.

All my things lie in their place
Do not disturb the order.
Do not come when I am not expecting you;
Surprises and haste promise me trouble.

Of all the signs, the Moon in Taurus needs a sense of security the most. To feel emotional “oneness,” this child must know that there are certain things they can rely on, such as you. He needs a father who is like a “granite rock,” always there and meeting expectations. If you are unreliable or unpredictable, you may unsettle his usually stable sense of self. A lack of reliability in relationships or surroundings may provoke some form of compensation—overeating, an increased interest in acquiring material things, or something similar.

Almost all children go through a “pacifier” phase, but this child may, in addition to a pacifier, develop two or three special comfort rituals of their own. (Remember, in the third chapter I mentioned Molly’s pacifier, thumb-sucking, and hair-twisting.) If you try to eliminate these too early, he will likely cling to them. Or he may pout, “You don’t love me.”

Do not rush this child. Do not hurry him unless there is an absolute need to do so. Create a schedule or routine that you both follow and on which he can depend. Let him know in advance if you need to leave, and explain who will be meeting his needs while you are gone. Try not to spring too many surprises unless you are sure they will be pleasant ones. Hold him close more often when he is very small. As he grows, try to set aside special time before bed when you can both settle down together and read a book. If you work and your time with the child is limited, make sure he knows what to expect and where you will be when you return. The quality of time is more important than the quantity. When you are with him, try to match your pace to his. Your child will reward you for your affection, calmness, trust, and reliability with love, tenderness, and loyalty—qualities you can always depend on.
