This child is capable of doing many things. They usually have good manual dexterity, coordination, and bright motor skills that tend to develop early. All of this should be encouraged. This bundle of energy will become restless when required to sit still for too long. But not because they are eager to go do something. They might not even know what they want to do—perhaps flit like a butterfly over there or fly off with the next breath of wind—it’s simply boring to sit here! Provide plenty of space and time for this child to be safely active for extended periods.
Any activity will somehow be linked to their mental process. When they need to defend their rights, a passionate and intelligent verbal defense—or attack—is likely to be a better approach than any form of physical confrontation. Since your child enjoys and is capable of so many things, they may sometimes struggle to focus on one task. You will need to help them learn how to start and how to finish tasks. At the same time, keep in mind that this child works best when there is sufficient variety in tasks or when they have the opportunity to switch from one thing to another.
Your active child is intelligent and quick; they may excel in sports that require a combination of thinking and fast action: tennis, fencing, handball, basketball, badminton, windsurfing, skateboarding, cycling, or dancing. Rough sports probably won’t appeal to them; better choices include jump rope, gymnastics (for example, on the bars), or pole vaulting.
