Pluto in Leo

Pluto in Leo

Het Monster: Pluto in Leo. This nearly twenty-year period of Pluto’s transit through Leo (1938–1957) encompasses my generation and may even include some of you. This era of leadership, power, and drama, beginning during World War II, culminated in the detonation of the first atomic bomb. It continued in the form of the Cold War between the powerful forces of capitalism and communism, when the world stood on the brink of mass destruction and chaos unleashed by uncontrollable forces. Children born during this time, inclined toward deep exploration of individual creative expression, matured into countercultures centered on individuality, some even breaking away from mass society as a protest against abuses of power.

Pavlo Globa. Planets in Zodiac Signs

Generation 1939–1957 (Pluto in Leo for 18 years). Here, Pluto is in exaltation, in the house of the Sun, in the Fire element. Your generation is characterized by immense human and life dynamism, independence, and a deep-seated aversion to oppression. The energy accumulated within you demands release. During this time, atomic energy and X-ray radiation were discovered (Marie Curie—Scorpio with Pluto in Leo). At the moment of the Hiroshima bombing, Pluto was at the heart of the Sun (in Leo). The world was being reshaped—World War II, events in Czechoslovakia, the Great Patriotic War, the Korean conflict. The struggle between capitalism and communism determined the fate of humanity. This era saw the rise of criminal organizations, suppression of freedom, totalitarian ideologies, and super-powerful leaders (shepherds of the human herd). You are likely a person with unfulfilled ambition, an open maximalist, and a highly active creative individual. You will retain energy into old age and may drive movements for societal transformation with unearthly intensity and charisma. Pluto in exaltation is directly linked to magical energy within the personality. You are able to harness collective energy. While Scorpio does this through strain, Leo does it with strength. You influence through charm, yet allow others to emerge as well. The greater the cause, the stronger you become; the greater the power, the greater the energy. The larger the mass, the crowd, the more successfully Leo feeds on its energy. This immense force, amplifying Pluto’s power, drives you toward authority and prominence. Through Pluto, you gain tremendous endurance and transformative strength, along with expansive vision. You possess power over people, lead them, and transform the world. You are driven by an insatiable hunger for space and freedom of action. Leadership manifests in you only in mature years. You will reach your highest maturity by the beginning of the Aquarian Age. You are a late bloomer—your most interesting and intense life begins at ages 40–43. You may have children later in life. In upbringing, you grant freedom; your attitude toward children is unburdened and natural. At your best, you are capable of genuine feeling, approach love in a new way, and invest great energy into relationships. You possess great courage, impulse, passion, and immense self-sacrifice. You are fearsome in anger, yet magnanimous in mercy and love. You dislike illness and possess an exceptional ability to renew your strength. In the negative expression, you may become a mafioso, a destroyer, or a black magician. Then you become a terrifying individualist, intolerant of opposition, reshaping the world according to your will and intruding into others’ lives. This generation is prone to cancer outbreaks and serious illnesses.

Avesalom Podvodny. Planets in Zodiac Signs

This placement of Pluto represents Leo in its strongest form, when its authority over the external world is at its peak—ruling over fate, life, and death of all living beings on Earth. Here, Pluto performs the main purification of the world observed throughout its 250-year cycle. During the last transit through Leo, World War II occurred, atomic weapons were invented and tested, making the instantaneous annihilation of life on Earth a real possibility—fundamentally altering external reality. Yet the generation born during this time has not yet spoken its final word. It is beginning the spiritual transformation of society in practical life, guided by the ideals of the Aquarian Age. The lower octave of this placement manifests as Leo—the black teacher—endowed with subtle magical power, capable of penetrating the deepest layers of the human soul and bringing forth the darkest and basest elements to the surface. Such a teacher transforms his disciples into conduits of crystallizing force, obedient puppets of a harsh egregore or of himself personally. The higher octave manifests as spiritual teachers who will begin synthesizing science and religion into a single world religion and prepare the generation that ushers in the Age of Aquarius.

Francesca Sakoyan. Planets in Zodiac Signs

You were born during a 20-year period (1937–1957), when people were born who are called the “I—the first letter of the alphabet” generation. Its representatives are proud and self-assured individuals who place great value on self-expression and inner integrity. The struggle for women’s rights and the rights of national minorities deeply interests your generation, reflecting your concern for personal dignity and respect. People of your age group wholeheartedly believe that both men and women should have equal rights and opportunities for full realization and expression of their inner potential. However, it is difficult for your generation to function as part of a collective where results directly depend on the joint efforts of all members. A strongly developed ego hinders cooperative teamwork. You tend to believe the individual is more important than the group, dislike authority, and feel no one has the right to tell you what to do. The active movement in defense of those refusing military conscription is one example of the importance you place on freedom and human rights. Although you have worked hard to popularize the idea of personal self-development and have made significant contributions to human rights, there is also a contrary tendency in your generation toward self-absorption. Others may be surprised by your ability to devote extensive time to yourself, often at the expense of family and loved ones. Every generation has its heroes and idols, but your generation has a special need for a person who embodies and personifies an idea or feeling—a figure who can focus their interests. Perhaps the clearest example of this is the concept of the Guru, which became widely known and popularized through people of your generation.
