Moon-Square Mars
(Transit. Moon → Natal Mars)
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Moon’s semisquare: Do you always remember, when talking to a person, that before you is a microcosm? This is the most difficult aspect; most often it indicates an inner brokenness which the person tries in every way to hide from themselves, since their core inner feeling tells them that everything is exactly as it should be with them, while other people and external circumstances are somehow not quite right—but in any case, that’s their personal problem. In reality, everything is the opposite, but the Moon hardly admits its flaws. In the areas ruled by the Planet, the person will have limited and rigid perception programs that ruthlessly reject and ignore everything that doesn’t fit into them, yet the person won’t notice this, believing they see and feel perfectly everything that is necessary, and may even feel superior to others whose perception is truly limited. The discomfort lies in the fact that beyond their clear perception, at a low level of aspect integration, the person will notice nothing, including subtle nuances and half-tones, and will instinctively strive to prove to the world that these subtleties don’t actually exist. Often this aspect indicates formal relationships in childhood with the mother, who performed her maternal functions and duties according to a fixed checklist, mentally ticking off items as they were completed. Here, (rather difficult) integration leads to the ability to create a warm, cozy home for others, anticipating their every need, but this requires first overcoming the natural selfishness and emotional hardness in the Planet’s spheres. Mars’ semisquare: The bureaucratic hammer of official ideology doesn’t so much shatter as it compacts citizens’ subversive thoughts. In the areas ruled by the Planet, the person has limited means for expressing their activity, although this isn’t immediately obvious. If they manage to find a combination of these means convenient for their goals, the effect can be excellent; more often, however, they will feel a certain discomfort, the causes of which remain a complete mystery to the person at low and medium levels of integration. For example, the Mercury-Mars semisquare causes poor motor coordination, yet some individual movements may be perfect, and with determination, by combining them, the person can even achieve success in certain sports, although becoming a champion with this aspect is difficult. A person with an unprocessed Moon-Mars square will be crude in personal perception and expression, sensitive, sharp, and generally quite difficult to deal with, as long as they demand that external reality adapt to them; whereas when they set themselves the goal of serving it, gradually they will gain broad channels for self-expression and constructive activity, although initially they will, of course, be awkward, yet sincerity and selflessness will greatly mitigate this. At a low level, especially with strong energy, the person will tend to subjugate the world in the Planet’s spheres to their (perfectly certain) ideas of how these spheres should be, and resistance to this can be very difficult. For example, the Mars-Mercury semisquare (especially harmonious) grants great cunning and agility, which at first glance may appear as wisdom and intelligence.
