Mercury sesquiquadrate: Artificial intelligence is always irresponsible intelligence. This aspect on a low level produces a hidden backwardness of thinking that simultaneously gives an impression of agility, sometimes even power. A person may speak logically and correctly, yet in their speech there will be felt some colossal distortions, as if they are imbuing their words with another, entirely incorrect meaning. The individual themselves, however, will not notice this, just as they will not perceive the profanation to which (in the spheres of the Planet) they subject others’ mental images and information in general during reception. For example, the Mercury-Mars sesquiquadrate results in a very limited set of mental patterns by which the person operates when perceiving and directing any kinds of activity and energy—both their own and others’, often restricted to categories such as “good-bad, own-foreign, friend-enemy,” making it impossible for them to recognize and account for the dual nature of any activity. At the same time, their speech (especially with a harmonious Mercury) may at first glance sound powerful, convincing, and logical, demolishing any obstacles, including truth. Working through this aspect requires awareness of the limitations of one’s mental patterns and constructing, upon their (stable!) foundation, structures serving purposes (and inhabitants) other than those initially anticipated. At a high level, this becomes spirit—something that exists above thought and logic, yet to which both should lead, like signposts guiding the seeker to the treasure hidden within a labyrinth. Mars sesquiquadrate: The jackhammer of official ideology does not so much shatter as it compacts subversive thoughts of citizens. In the spheres ruled by the Planet, the individual has limited means for expressing their activity, although this is not immediately obvious. If they manage to find a combination of these means convenient for their purposes, the effect can be excellent; more often, however, they will feel a certain discomfort, the causes of which remain a complete mystery to the person at low and middle levels of integration. For example, the Mercury-Mars sesquiquadrate causes poor motor coordination, yet some individual movements may be perfect, and, if desired, by combining them the person may even achieve success in certain sports, although becoming a champion with this aspect is difficult. A person with an unworked Mars-Moon square will be coarse in personal perception and expression, sensitive, sharp, and generally quite difficult to deal with, as long as they demand that external reality adapt to them; whereas once they set themselves the goal of serving reality, they will gradually gain broad channels for self-expression and constructive activity, although initially they will certainly be awkward—though sincerity and selflessness will greatly mitigate this. At a low level, especially with strong energetic activation, the person will tend to subjugate the world in the Planet’s spheres to their own (perfectly certain) notions of how these spheres ought to be, and resistance to this can be very difficult. For example, the Mars-Mercury sesquiquadrate (especially harmonious) grants great cunning and agility, which at first glance may appear to be intelligence and wisdom.
