Moon’s sesquiquadrate: In hardened individuals, there is an iron shell around the heart; in more sensitive ones, a plastic one. This aspect brings in the areas of the planet a general inner awkwardness and coarseness of perception, along with reflexive habits. For example, with a Mars-Moon sesquiquadrate, a person at a low level best understands the language of violence and tends to express themselves in the same manner, which also applies to their inner life—meaning they can be very harsh with themselves, possibly engaging in self-persecution, cornering themselves, reshaping without anesthesia, and so on. In the areas governed by the planet, such a person may provoke mild irritation in others due to what seems like emotional coldness and a tendency to straightforwardly ignore anything they dislike, focusing only on their own (usually crude) needs, which they satisfy with iron determination. The individual themselves usually doesn’t notice this behavior, though sometimes (not always!) sensing others’ negative attitudes, they retreat into their egoism, considering such complaints unfair, groundless, and altogether incomprehensible. Indeed, working through this is difficult and requires a strong desire for self-improvement and overcoming inner coarseness; it is extremely hard to bring this into awareness because the censorship of the subconscious here is coarse (just like the programs themselves) and often simply erases large chunks, leaving outright blank spots in memory and perception (the person says: “I don’t remember that at all, no matter what… and somehow I completely failed to notice exactly these things, which is strange” at a low level). Here, proper work leads to the ability to clearly and subtly manage at a distance the corresponding planetary fragments of the subconscious. Jupiter’s sesquiquadrate: The very concept of matter is deeply idealistic. This aspect brings formal expansion in the areas of the planet; the person may be interested in scientific achievements, philosophical generalizations, or simply other developmental paths, but tends to understand all this quite straightforwardly, at a low level exclusively from egocentric and pragmatic positions. With poor integration, a peculiar rigid pride may emerge, where the person does not accept compliments beyond the image they have established for themselves, yet demand its confirmation unconditionally; this behavioral pattern is a reaction to an unconscious feeling of lacking true greatness, effortless and natural breadth of possibilities characteristic, for example, of a Jupiter trine—like a colonel looking up at a general. Such a person tends to take on the role of benefactor, philanthropist, or patron in the areas of the planet, but their capabilities often do not match the environment’s needs, and they must learn to account for this; here, mistakes are far more visible than with a Jupiter semisquare, and blows to self-esteem are more painful. Proper work enables effective, skillful, and timely assistance to others, genuine expansion of possibilities in the areas ruled by the planet, but to achieve this, one must learn to see in their tools not just decorative embellishments, but also the quality of the sharpening.
