Mercury sesquiquadrate: The person is unable to grasp the truth expressed in words. This aspect creates discomfort and coarseness of thought within the areas of the planet; the individual, however, often remains unaware of this and stubbornly insists on their own opinions. For example, a Mercury-Moon sesquiquadrate may result in poor memory and rigid thinking, yet knowledge and reasoning that are barely acquired will be constantly exploited by the person and used loyally, rightly or wrongly, wherever possible—and even where not possible—while rational persuasion becomes extremely difficult. The Mercury sesquiquadrate is difficult to work through, as the person, usually sensing the limitations of their intellect in the planetary areas, either resigns themselves to this limitation or, conversely, diligently represses these shortcomings into the unconscious and convinces themselves of the unquestionable significance and power of their thoughts, rejecting any foreign mode of thinking. At a low level of aspect integration, especially when clothed with authority, such a person may become an official ideologue within the planetary spheres, whose logical framework rests upon two foundational pillars: Conformity and Non-conformity to the Sacred Truth, which has already been definitively discovered and irrevocably formulated in certain works. At a high level of integration, the person attains subtlety and clarity of thought capable of precisely directing effort and carefully constructing a mental model within the planetary areas, whenever and to the extent this is possible. Jupiter sesquiquadrate: The very concept of matter is deeply idealistic. This aspect brings formal expansion within the planetary areas; here, the person may be interested in scientific achievements, philosophical generalizations, or simply alternative developmental paths, but tends to understand all of this in a rather simplistic manner, at a low level exclusively from egocentric and pragmatic positions. With poor integration, a peculiar rigid pride may emerge, where the person refuses compliments that fall outside the image they have established for themselves, yet demands their confirmation unconditionally; this behavioral pattern is a reaction to an unconscious feeling of lacking true greatness, the effortless and natural breadth of possibilities characteristic, for instance, of a Jupiter trine—such is the way a colonel looks at a general. This individual tends to assume the role of a benefactor, philanthropist, or patron within the planetary spheres, but their capabilities often fail to meet the environment’s needs, and they must learn to take this into account; here, mistakes are far more visible than with a Jupiter semi-square, and blows to self-esteem are more painful. Proper integration enables effective, competent, and timely assistance to others, as well as genuine expansion of possibilities within the areas ruled by the planet, but this requires learning to see in one’s tools not merely the ornamental gilding, but also the quality of the sharpening.
