Your child is an Aquarius
Birthday: January 20 – February 18
We all, of course, love our children, but sometimes, unfortunately, we do not understand why they act the way they do, which we definitely did not teach them or why they flatly refuse to agree with what seems to us completely obvious and does not require any explanation. In such situations, knowing the innate characteristics of our children, their ideas about decency, friendship, fairness, the way your son or daughter makes decisions, what they pay attention to first, and what external factors influence their desire to be responsible, greatly facilitates our lives as adults. This is exactly the information that a natal chart (usually called a horoscope) of each person carries, and it is up to us, as adults, to decide whether to use this knowledge or not.
This is the eleventh article in the series Child Astrology. The purpose of this article is to give parents an idea of what is a natural manifestation of their Aquarius child’s “true self,” what is important for your children so that they feel confident in themselves.
So, here are the traits inherent in Aquarius children:
Inclination toward development and expansion. Readiness for experiments.
One of the characteristics clearly inherent in Aquarius children is their desire to learn. They are interested in absolutely diverse things, so do not be surprised if you find your Aquarius toddler taking apart a toaster or a TV remote just to figure out how it works.
They are ready to take part in something unconventional (unusual games, events) and often invent some unusual activity for themselves. Aquarius children do not like to simply sit quietly with their parents coloring pictures. Sometimes it can be quite difficult and tiring to keep up with their insatiable curiosity; just try not to overly restrain and suppress their cognitive enthusiasm. If possible, provide them with plenty of books to read and manage various sections (music, dancing, sports, drawing). Many Aquarians have artistic abilities.
Closer to adolescence, you can focus more seriously on one or two things.
Teenage Aquarians may also show an early interest in science, politics, or areas of knowledge that seem uninteresting to us adults.
Aquarius children, with their natural desire for development and inquisitive minds, are full of unconventional ideas. It would be good to praise them for their ingenuity and unconventional approach to many seemingly ordinary things and to be interested in what they think and what they are passionate about.
For Aquarius children, recognition of their ideas by others is important. They are not very concerned with turning their own plans into something tangible and practical. What matters to an Aquarius child is our parental positive evaluation of their thoughts and views.
2. Lightness, superficiality.
Aquarians love to spend time with friends, and even as very young children, they usually have many playmates.
On the one hand, they are sociable and friendly, and their friends can vary greatly in character and interests.
It is quite possible that your child can entertain the entire class at school just for the fun of making everyone laugh. At the same time, you are unlikely to see your child involved in figuring out the reasons and details of why someone is upset and crying. Aquarius children are usually not particularly interested in “emotional complexities” and “heartache,” so they easily avoid and often prefer to stay away from tears and crying.
The detachment inherent in Aquarians can manifest in young Aquarius children as a lack of desire for their parents to hug them or hold their hand often, regardless of how close your relationship with the child is.
3. Aquarius children do not particularly strive to be the leaders in games (team leaders), and at the same time, they cannot blindly follow someone or obey rules simply because “it is necessary” or “that is how it is done.”
4. Need for personal freedom.
The need for personal freedom is one of the reasons why most Aquarians prefer a certain distance (emotionally) even in relationships with close people. Aquarius children, like adults of this zodiac sign, react poorly to any restrictions imposed from the outside, even if they come from their parents. So do not be surprised if your usually cheerful and happy Aquarius starts resisting (objecting to) certain rules of behavior at the table or to the fact that bedtime in the family is at a certain hour and computer games can only be played for 30 minutes a day. The easiest way in such situations is to explain rationally and logically why certain rules should be followed both at home and in society. Explanations like “Because I said so” are unlikely to help.
5. Bias toward conventions.
At the same time, everything related to their usual daily routine, everyday trifles, Aquarians not only do not like to change but may also resist when someone, even close people, tries to “rearrange” what they are used to, whether it concerns school or home.
6. Aquarius children are quite disciplined, but only in what they have taken on.
So if your Aquarius son or daughter wakes up at 5:30 in the morning and leaves for training at 6:10, you may find that they stick to their usual routine even when you do not feel like getting up so early to prepare breakfast or drive them to training.
7. Aquarians take issues of morality, decency, and moral and ethical norms that they consider important very seriously.
Therefore, what Aquarians themselves consider correct, they may pursue to the end, even if it does not correspond to generally accepted norms and ideas.
In what Aquarius children consider important, they can show serious persistence and steadfastness, which often surprises adults who do not expect such firmness and resistance from their usually good-natured and open child.
Aquarius children can become quite stubborn and are not easily swayed by requests and persuasion when they encounter opposition or rejection of their own ideas by other people.
You may be quite surprised by the remarkable stubbornness of your Aquarius when they tell you that they will no longer attend classes or do homework for a teacher because they consider that teacher rude and unprincipled.
8. Grandeur.
Aquarius children have inquisitive minds and their own suggestions for improving the world order. They are reformers and experimenters by nature, with a wide range of interests and a tolerant attitude toward views and opinions that differ from their own.
This does not mean that your Aquarius child will quickly change their beliefs as soon as they are told that another opinion is more correct. You may remain of your opinion, and your child will remain of theirs, saying that everyone can think as they see fit or simply remaining silent.
Aquarians, regardless of age, strive to give the world new ideas; simply sharing an interesting thought with a friend is usually not enough for them. They want to make the world better.
It is important to help your growing Aquarius, on the one hand, learn to “live within the system” with its rules and, at the same time, preserve their unique inner world, their own uniqueness—the ability to be honest and have strong moral principles, to act as their conscience dictates.
It is also no less important to teach your Aquarius to be responsible.
