Mars conjunction: The true burden is invisible. The real strength is imperceptible. A conjunction with Mars gives the planet power, which at a low level is destructive. The planet’s principle seems to be inflated by energy, but, unable to channel it constructively, it most often manifests through aggression and destruction. For example, an unprocessed conjunction of Mars with the Moon produces aggression directed toward one’s own body, while a conjunction with Saturn brings extraordinary obstacles when attempting introspection or concentration—such as a window suddenly shattering from a football crashing into the room. Processing this aspect does not primarily involve restraining excess energy in the areas ruled by the planet, although initially this skill is necessary, but rather refining the energy of the conjunction and raising its vibrational frequency. For instance, with Mars conjunct the Moon, it is better not to develop muscular strength, but instead learn to manage psychic energy (advanced stages of hatha yoga, autogenic training, etc.); with Mars conjunct Saturn, it is better to direct effort not toward fighting distractions and temptations, but toward cultivating deeper focus and concentration. At a high level, Mars provides the planet exactly the energy it specifically needs in each case, qualitatively enhancing its creative potential. But this requires recognizing the fallacy of the seemingly attractive principle “strong means good,” and eliminating the forceful subjugation of the planet to Mars, typical of the lower and middle levels. Particularly with Mars conjunct Venus, a person for a long time perceives and values beauty only when it contains an element of visible strength. Chiron conjunction: It is better to serve God with benefit than to serve the devil without reward. A conjunction with Chiron gives the planet a special sense of humor, initially appreciated more by others than by the person themselves, since the jokes are often at their expense. This aspect creates a karmic necessity to process the planet’s principle in a non-standard way, prompted by developmental deadlocks and chaotic, incomprehensible situations in which an inner meaning is sensed but cannot be grasped from conventional life positions. For example, Chiron conjunct the Moon may bring unusual or common illnesses that for some reason resist standard treatment, potentially tormenting the person until they turn to methods considered quackery or at least highly suspicious by official medicine. Yet only a very harmonious conjunction with Chiron brings rapid solutions bordering on miracles; usually, the individual must seriously master and materialize (at least for themselves) new, initially semi-fantastical views, techniques, or methods. This often requires inner work within the subconscious programs governed by the planet. For instance, processing Chiron conjunct Pluto involves reevaluating one’s views (often initially completely unconscious) on death, spiritual purification, repentance, and the interconnection of personal and collective karma (“the role of personality in history”), and so on. Working through the conjunction grants extraordinary creative abilities in the areas ruled by the planet, producing methods and techniques that create miraculous effects, yet appear entirely “scientific” and “rational” to the next generation. Chiron’s core methodological principle is: “To understand means to become accustomed.” However, the essential purpose of processing a planet’s conjunction with Chiron lies not merely in qualitatively new expressions of the planet’s principle, but in the expansion of consciousness facilitated through it.
