Mercury-Mars Conjunction

Mercury – Mars conjunction Het Monster: Sharp intellect, great mental energy. They enjoy participating in discussions and disputes. Suitable for reporters and researchers. They openly express their opinions and, once a decision is made, consistently implement it. They love to compete and prove their superiority. With unfavorable aspects, may indicate a deceitful person or one with poor morals. Often portends death by firearms or at least a dangerous wound.

Catherine Haug: Mercury – Mars Conjunction Conjunction: the merging of mind and aggression. A combative and critical spirit. The intellect directs and programs actions. Note. Some authors believe that the relative positions of the planets in conjunction are of exceptional importance. If Mercury precedes Mars, thought precedes action; if Mars precedes Mercury, the person acts before having time to think. Thus, the conjunction may have either positive or negative significance depending on the aspect configuration.

A. Podvodny: Mercury – Mars Conjunction Mercury conjunction: Anxiety arises not only from the absence of thought, but in many cases from its very presence. Mercury imparts a strong mental coloring to the planet it conjoins, even when this is entirely unnecessary or undesirable. For example, in a Mercury-Venus conjunction within love relationships, there may be so much calculation and rationality that any immediate feeling or living sensation will be very short-lived, especially if Mercury is stronger than Venus. Unfortunately, mental coloring is not equivalent to intelligence, as it most often reduces to widespread superficial notions and stereotypes of collective consciousness and the subconscious, actively influencing the planetary principle, strongly schematizing and trivializing it. The person will certainly feel this, but all attempts to escape such a deadening (each time in a unique way) influence of Mercury upon the planet—by expanding the sphere of its manifestations (for example, seeking new lovers in the case of Venus)—are doomed to failure, since the mind, though crude, is nevertheless flexible and can adapt in some way. Working through the conjunction primarily involves processing Mercury itself—understanding the role and meaning of mental activity as an energetic flow and planetary principles, which provide general direction but do not replace them. This processing is complex, as it requires restructuring of thinking, rejecting rigid, linear social stereotypes, and learning to work with lighter, more flexible thought forms capable of facilitating an adequate interaction between the Cosmos and the planetary principle. For example, a Mercury-Mars conjunction with a strong Mercury at a low level of processing produces not a person, but practically a robot, for whom any active action must first be mentally modeled, completely unable to trust the feeling or logic of their immediate energetic expressions. Proper integration of the aspect brings great creative abilities, manifesting as subtle and inventive indirect mental control over the planetary principle at those moments when it is necessary.

Mars conjunction: True burden is invisible. True strength is imperceptible. A conjunction with Mars imparts strength to the planet, which at a low level is destructive. The planetary principle appears inflated by energy, yet, unable to channel it constructively, most often manifests through aggression and destruction. For example, an unprocessed Mars-Moon conjunction produces aggression directed toward one’s own organism, while a Mars-Saturn conjunction brings extraordinary obstacles during attempts at self-deepening and concentration—e.g., a window suddenly shatters as a football flies into the room. Processing here proceeds not so much along the line of suppressing excess energy in the areas governed by the planet (although initially this skill is necessary), but rather through refining the energy of the conjunction and raising its vibrational quality. For instance, with a Mars-Moon conjunction, it is better not to develop muscular strength, but to learn psychic energy management; with a Mars-Saturn conjunction, efforts are better directed not at fighting temptations and distractions, but at increasing the depth of concentration and the power of focus. At a high level, Mars provides the planet with precisely the energy it needs in each specific case, qualitatively enhancing its creative potential. But this requires recognizing the fallacy of the attractive principle that “strong means good,” and eliminating the forceful subordination of the planet to Mars, typical of lower and middle levels—especially evident in a Mars-Venus conjunction, where a person for a long time perceives and values beauty only when it contains an element of visible strength.
