Mercury-Venus Conjunction

Mercury – Venus conjunction Het Monster: Refined speech and writing, a soft, melodious voice, talents in literature and poetry. They radiate beauty and harmony, often contributing to improved psychological and physical well-being of those around them. Passionate temperament, which frequently causes significant difficulties.

Catherine Aubin: Mercury – Venus conjunction. When combined, the intellectual and emotional merge—one cannot function without the other. Feelings influence reasoning, and reasoning affects emotions. Therefore, personal sympathies and antipathies often appear in arguments and conclusions, while inclinations and desires may be subjected to logic.

A. Podvodny: Mercury – Venus conjunction. Mercury conjunction: Anxiety arises not only from the absence of thought, but also, in many cases, from its very presence. Mercury imparts a strong mental coloring to the planet it is conjunct with, even when this is neither needed nor desired by the individual. For example, in love relationships, a Mercury–Venus conjunction may introduce so much calculation and rationality that any spontaneous feeling or immediate emotional experience will be short-lived—especially if Mercury is stronger than Venus. Unfortunately, mental coloring is not equivalent to true intelligence, as it most often reduces to common, shallow notions and societal conscious and subconscious stereotypes, which actively influence the planetary principle, greatly schematizing and trivializing it. The person will certainly feel this, but all attempts to escape such a deadening (yet uniquely personal) influence of Mercury on the planet—through expanding the sphere of the planet’s expression (for instance, seeking new lovers in the case of Venus)—are doomed to fail, because the mind, though crude, is flexible and can adapt in some way. Working through this conjunction primarily involves processing Mercury—becoming aware of the role and meaning of mental activity as an energetic flow and planetary principle that provides general direction but does not replace it. This processing is complex, as it requires restructuring one’s thinking, rejecting rigid, linear social stereotypes, and learning to work with lighter, more flexible thought-forms capable of facilitating an adequate interaction between the Cosmos and the planetary principle. For example, a Mercury–Mars conjunction with a strong Mercury at a low level of development produces not a person, but practically a robot, who must first mentally model any active action, completely unable to trust the feeling or logic of their immediate energetic expressions. Proper integration of this aspect brings great creative abilities, manifesting as subtle and inventive indirect mental management of the planetary principle at moments when it is necessary.

Venus conjunction: One can benefit society only after first separating oneself from it. A conjunction with Venus imparts strong social and aesthetic emphases to the planetary principle. At a low level, in the areas ruled by the planet, the person will be aesthetically capricious and socially determined—public opinion and the principle of “what people do” will be highly significant for them. Freeing the planetary principle from the influence of social clichés will be difficult, sometimes resulting in unpredictable effects when attempting to apply social stereotypes in entirely inappropriate situations, in which the creative signature of the Absolute manifests (at this level). Another characteristic of Venus’s influence on a planet in conjunction is an emphasis on love, not necessarily erotic. Working through this aspect brings Divine light into any expression of the planet. At a low level, the person does not perceive the planet’s manifestations unless they are accompanied by considerable love directed toward them or social attention, although (karmically) they are meant not so much to receive love as to radiate it in appropriate situations. For example, a child with Venus conjunct Saturn can only be encouraged to study systematically or simply to concentrate through kindness, affection, love, and gentle persuasion—not through force. Mockery in society will cause them to literally cower in a corner and burst into tears. At a low level, Venus weakens the planet, turning the person into a social parasite and refined egoist in the corresponding areas. But with proper development, egoism gives way to service to others. For instance, a Venus–Moon conjunction may produce a glutton and gourmet concerned only with their stomach, but with integration, a wonderful host; the same applies to their sex life.
