Mercury – Saturn conjunction Het Monster: Precision, accuracy in thinking, no special eloquence, but capable of control. Work and study diligently, intensely. Often good constructors, architects. With afflicted aspect – fault-finding, worry, depression. Skepticism. In case of overall poor horoscope – violent death.
Catherine Objoe: Mercury – Saturn conjunction. Aspect: strict, logical, sober mind, ability to concentrate, desire to reach the essence, intellectual honesty. Capacity for scientific reasoning, rationality, thoughtfulness. Gift of foresight, objectivity, ability to focus, love for difficult tasks. With poor aspecting of this conjunction – lack of imagination, fantasy, excessive severity, the mind becomes an omnipotent judge.
A. Podvodny: Mercury – Saturn conjunction. Mercury’s conjunction: Anxiety arises not only from absence of thought, but in many cases from its very presence. Mercury imparts to the Planet in conjunction with it a strong mental coloring, even when this is entirely unnecessary and undesirable for the person; for example, in Mercury-Venus conjunction in love relationships there will be so much calculation and prudence that any immediate feeling and living sensation will not last long, especially if Mercury is stronger than Venus. Unfortunately, mental coloring is not identical to intelligence, since it most often reduces to widespread superficial notions and stereotypes of collective consciousness and subconsciousness, which will actively influence the Planet’s principle, strongly schematizing and trivializing it. The person will certainly feel this, but all attempts to rid themselves of such dead (each time in its own way) influence of Mercury upon the Planet by expanding the sphere of its manifestations (for example, seeking new lovers in case of Venus) are doomed to failure, since the mind, though crude, is nevertheless flexible and can adapt somehow. Working through the conjunction primarily involves processing Mercury itself—that is, becoming aware of the role and meaning of mental activity as an energetic flow and planetary principles, providing general direction without replacing them. Here the processing is complex, since it requires restructuring of thinking, rejecting heavy, linear social stereotypes and transitioning to work with lighter and more flexible thought-forms capable of adequate interaction between the Cosmos and the Planet’s principle. For example, Mercury-Mars conjunction with strong Mercury at a low level of processing produces not a person, but practically a robot, for whom any active action must first be modeled in the head, completely unable to trust the feeling and logic of their immediate energetic expressions. Processing the aspect brings great creative abilities, manifesting as subtle and inventive indirect mental management of the Planet’s principle at moments when this becomes necessary.
Saturn’s conjunction: Over time, it slows down by itself. The problem lies in noticing this. Conjunction of a Planet with Saturn compresses and freezes its principle; here the karmic requirement consists in deep processing, particularly in freeing the Planet’s principle from superficial selfish programs demanding concrete payment for any minor effort. For example, Saturn-Mercury conjunction produces a person who poorly understands things not thoroughly thought through by him, and struggling against this is futile. If the person attempts, which is very typical for the low level of processing this aspect, to ignore the intense pressure of Saturn forcing him to think long and carefully, his rational thinking will literally jam, and he will lose all reasoning altogether, experiencing on himself the creativity of the Absolute in the form of various absurd and tragic situations—true laziness and irresponsibility. At the beginning, processing Saturn’s conjunction requires turning inward and contemplating the Planet’s principle within the framework of one’s own life and life philosophy, which most often is motivated by prolonged external limitations. Further processing proceeds under less harsh conditions than the initial phase, but here the person must demonstrate voluntary humility and voluntary submission to the Planet’s principle in situations. Breakthrough into great creativity in the spheres ruled by the Planet, although at first it is hard to believe in this, since Saturn’s conjunction gives, on the contrary, the impression not simply of lack of abilities, but of their negative magnitude—often an inferiority complex—yet simultaneously an extraordinarily strong and deep inner desire for mastery.
