The doctrine of karma is based on the idea of reincarnation. Life is a constant exchange, a cycle of the soul in nature. And this cycle of the soul is practically endless. Every person (meaning their immortal essence) comes into this world many times. Why? Why are we sent here? Why are we born? What is the purpose of this cycle? The purpose is the evolution of the soul! So that the soul of each person can come as close as possible to the original pattern, to the ideal. So that we become like Him! Equal to Him! But to achieve this closeness, we must acquire the highest wisdom! This is precisely why we are born. However, most births are forced and involuntary. Now let us ask ourselves: sooner or later, every soul will reach the level of the Creator—but what then? Then the soul exits the chain of reincarnations! That is, we have a very specific goal. This goal is not instantaneous; it is the ultimate milestone—liberation from the cycle of rebirth! Who exits the cycle of rebirths? Those souls who, having passed through all the circles of earthly trials, have attained such purity and perfection that returning to Earth is no longer necessary! Probably everyone remembers the Ferris wheel? They are present in amusement parks in nearly every city! The wheel of SAMSARA looks approximately the same! One full rotation of this wheel equals one day! And most human souls are within this wheel. When a cabin approaches Earth and someone steps out—that is someone born today! And someone who enters a cabin is someone who has died. This is a metaphorical allegory. And those who have had their fill of the amusement park and completed all the trials allotted to them after boarding the wheel—move on to NIRVANA! Nirvana is the highest realm, called Heaven in Christianity! It is a higher world where very luminous souls reside, souls who no longer return to Earth. That is, our task is to exit the wheel. And what each person must do to exit the wheel—the answer to this question lies in your chart! Thus, types of karma! Karma is divided into new and old. What is old karma? It is the portion we bring with us into this life! It is everything accumulated prior to this birth. Old karma is like a large pie that we must eat in order to be released from this wheel. It is like paying off a mortgage: until you repay what you owe on the apartment, ownership rights remain with the bank! Only when the loan is fully repaid do you become the full owner of the square footage! The same applies to karma! The keys to Nirvana are given only to those who have eaten their allotted slice of the pie! Old karma is called SANCHITA! SANCHITA KARMA is the total accumulated karma gathered by the soul over ALL lifetimes! And from this round pie, a slice is cut for us (just as when a hostess or your grandmother stands with a knife over a freshly baked pie, what do you say? “Oh no, I can’t eat the whole thing—please, just give me a slice!”) So they cut you a slice you can manage, one that is within your capacity. That is how everyone receives their portion! That is, the higher realms understand that eating the entire pie—resolving all karma—in one lifetime is impossible, so they allocate us a slice and say: “Here, eat at least this, and you’ll do well! We’ll move you closer to the exit (Nirvana)!” The slice of pie assigned to us in this life (try, by the way, to actually eat it! Half of those living today refuse even this!) is called PRAVARBDHA karma. Prarabdha karma is the portion of Sanchita that must be worked off (eaten) in this lifetime. What indicates Prarabdha karma? It is our Lunar Nodes! The legend of the Lunar Nodes! In the early dawn of creation, the Lunar Nodes were not yet separated—they were a single entity, a kind of Serpent! This was a semi-divine being, and the Gods did not allow it to join their feast! The Gods themselves feasted and drank, and they held such banquets quite often. They drank an elixir of immortality called AMRITA (something milk-based)! So the Gods drank this elixir of immortality, Amrita—or, in modern terms, a milkshake—while the Serpent was excluded, because he was not a full deity but a semi-divine creation; he simply didn’t meet the dress code, so security wouldn’t let him into the banquet! But our Serpent desperately wanted to drink Amrita and celebrate with the Gods! So, during one such feast, when the Gods had drunk several cups of Amrita and gone off dancing (and Indian Gods, like Indian films, are very passionate, musical, and artistic), the Serpent seized the moment, slipped into the hall, and discovered that the Amrita was left unattended—free to drink! The Serpent realized this was his only chance. He immediately crawled to the drink and began greedily consuming the milkshake. Everything would have gone smoothly and he might have gotten away with it—but two Gods saw him! They were also dancing, but at one point turned toward the table where Amrita stood, and saw the Serpent latched onto the Amrita, impossible to pull away by the ears! These two Gods were the Sun and the Moon! When they saw the Serpent, they immediately reported to higher authority, saying the Serpent was where he did not belong, drinking their divine Amrita despite having no right to it! Then a fearsome God appeared, drew his sword, and cut the Serpent in half! But by that time, the Amrita the Serpent had drunk had already been absorbed, and the Serpent had gained immortality! Thus, the Serpent did not die, but from that moment onward existed as two separate parts: Rahu and Ketu, or the South Node and the North Node. And the Serpent, in turn, remembered those two divine informers—Sun and Moon! Such things are never forgotten. From that time onward, the Serpent became a mortal enemy of the Sun and Moon, those luminaries who not only prevented him from fully enjoying the feast but also reported him to the Supreme God! And whenever they meet on the wheel, an eclipse occurs! That is, our eclipses are the consequences of that ancient story, when Sun and Moon, seeing the Serpent drinking Amrita, could have stayed silent—but instead reported the Serpent’s unacceptable behavior to higher authority! And we are the ones who pay the price, working off our karma through our Nodes!
