Moon Square Mars

(Transit: Moon → Natal Mars)

Various sources for the child’s horoscope

Emotional volatility, excitability, nervousness, the child struggles to control themselves and loses their temper easily. They take everything personally, leading to emotional outbursts. They may be overly independent and intolerant of interference. Possible conflicts with parents, whom they subject to excessive demands. Impulsive actions, aggression. Potential stomach issues. The child may perceive their mother as a combative woman ready to defend her rights and beliefs.

Catherine Aubier. Astrological Dictionary

Opposition and square are aspects that, in this case, indicate aggression or heightened sensitivity to others’ aggression. The person constantly suspects others of wanting to attack or criticize them. Due to their fluctuating mood, they either explode in rage or avoid conflicts altogether. They are restless, suspicious, and sometimes capricious. In some cases, their relationship with their mother is simultaneously confrontational and defensive. Men perceive their relationships with women as constant disagreements, while women unconsciously provoke aggression in them. These aspects increase the likelihood of physical harm, including surgical interventions.

Avessalom Podvodny. Aspects

The Moon square: One should distinguish between people whose soul is dormant and those whose soul has already departed. The Moon square creates significant internal difficulties tied to the planetary principle, especially in its perception. For example, the Moon–Mars square creates a sense of brutality and aggression in the external world, even when there is no apparent reason for it. Conversely, the person may act aggressively and cruelly without realizing it. The Moon square amplifies and exposes the ego’s programs tied to the planet: the person craves selfishly consuming its principle, but external and internal circumstances prevent this, leading to severe frustration, resentment toward the world, and a sense of deprivation. The more they pity themselves, the worse things become.

The karmic essence of this square, however, does not lie in straightforward asceticism or rejecting the planet’s principle (which can sometimes lead to illness) but in thoroughly studying the corresponding subconscious programs, separating their egocentric and evolutionarily constructive components, and establishing an adequate “diet.” The problem of the square must be “eaten,” directing the planet’s vibrations entirely inward, though this is difficult. If the Moon is significantly stronger than the planet, the latter becomes heavily profaned. For example, a Moon–Venus square can turn a person into a ruthless consumer of the opposite sex, subconsciously perceiving (at least in love) the other as primitive and crude, while developing respect (a skill that prevents conscious and subconscious profanation) for the opposite sex. Working through this aspect grants a deep understanding and subtlety regarding the planetary principle, as well as insight into its workings in others’ subconscious minds, fostering strong pedagogical abilities in relevant fields. For instance, a well-worked-through Sun–Moon square can produce an excellent class teacher or elementary school teacher.

Mars square: The razor used to sharpen a writer’s pen should not be used to chop cabbage. The Mars square gives the planetary manifestations roughness, disharmonious force that undermines its principle in all subtle expressions. This destruction occurs both internally and externally. If the person does not actively resist it, the effects are quite strong. Karmically, the Mars square forbids direct, unmediated energetic expression of the planetary principle (which never emerges harmonious or constructive) and demands that its higher octave be worked through. The person is internally drawn to the spheres governed by the planet, pulled by some force, and their self-perception (and often their achievements) in these areas may be inflated, though failures and disappointments are inevitable. At a low level, this person can sometimes be dangerous to others in the planet’s spheres, but they always pose the greatest danger to themselves. In the case of the Mars square, the law of karma, which repays the introduction of disharmony into the world, acts swiftly and energetically (though sometimes the backlash only affects the person’s inner world, causing unseen internal destruction that may go unnoticed by others, except for the fact that the person’s overall level declines).

In inner life, this aspect offers significant growth potential—the ability to recognize one’s crude subconscious programs, including nearly animalistic instincts (represented in this case vividly and distinctly, especially when the planet is activated), and transform them into a more civilized and acceptable form, i.e., shifting to higher vibrational energies. Working through this aspect allows the person to engage with the planet on subtle energies while revealing nuances of its principle that would otherwise remain inaccessible. The person will understand the destructive power of the planet in its lower octave, granting them insight into its manifestations in others and the ability to help them work through its principle, particularly in taming their lower nature in the relevant spheres. However, they will never fully master its free-flowing vibrations at a low level. For example, a Mars–Venus square may produce a refined libertine or an excellent sexologist, but this person will never become a sexual giant.

A. Ryzhov. Health, Ascendant, Sun, Moon

Causes fevers—those 3- or 4-day episodes with a sharp temperature spike. There is no runny nose, no cough, nothing—just a terrifying fever that breaks bones and twists everything, with darkness before the eyes and ringing in the ears. Inflammatory diseases are worse; they become chronic. Painful disorders and ailments arise from carelessness and lack of foresight. For example, if some enthusiasts drag you into an ice hole, you’ll pay for it. Mars is a masculine planet, and any masculine planet aspecting the Moon affects women more strongly.

Frances Sakoian. Aspects

Emotional volatility, excitability, poor self-control, and frequent loss of temper. Everything is taken personally, leading to emotional outbursts. Often overly independent, wanting to forge their own path in life and intolerant of interference. Frequent difficulties at home and conflicts with parents. This negatively impacts public opinion, professional standing, and aspirations. Impulsive actions, aggression, and poor treatment of women. Alcohol is dangerous for them, as they lose control. Often a sign of poor health, including stomach ulcers. Those who internalize their troubles develop nervous illnesses, which manifest when transits activate the square.

S.V. Shestopalov. Aspects of Planets

Reckless courage, stubbornness, obstinacy, self-confidence, arrogance, rudeness, insolence, scandalous behavior, arbitrariness, passion, gambling tendencies, lack of restraint, loudness, hysteria, carelessness, sensuality, shamelessness, audacity; strong influence of animal instincts; tendency to get into dangerous situations, risk of violence. In men — problems in relationships with their mother and women in general; in women — shamelessness, debauchery, dangerous or difficult childbirth; in both — poor health, risk of accidents. The positive side — confidence, willpower, energy, determination, bravery, active desire to help others, aspiration to make the world better (fighting for ecology), ability to forget about oneself for the sake of others, readiness to sacrifice oneself for a cause.
