Sun quincunx: The hardest thing is to fight an enemy while remaining a peaceful person. This aspect creates a sense of inadequacy in the volitional impulses of the individual within the areas of the planet, noticeable to attentive observers and, at a certain level of self-awareness, to the person themselves—though they may struggle to articulate precisely what is wrong, and the individual may find it difficult to understand. Similarly, external imperative situations in the planet’s domains will present certain challenges for the person, each of which they are capable of overcoming in some way if they choose, but when the quincunx is afflicted, this may seem exhausting (while with harmonious aspects, it may appear appealing). This aspect indicates external intervention of cosmic will within the planet’s spheres, as well as attempts to integrate it through the individual’s personal will. Until the person begins to recognize the cosmic signature in both external imperative circumstances and their own volitional impulses within these areas, and learns to respond to them appropriately, both will cause considerable confusion and partial disturbance. Generally, in the areas of a quincunx, the individual (except at a very high level of integration) experiences difficulties related to the emergence of cosmic, i.e., transpersonal, influences and ethics. In this case, however, the effect is especially acute, because it is difficult even to acknowledge that one’s will is under the influence of a cosmic force, as it would be with a semi-sextile of the Sun, yet even more so when combined with personal initiative and creative effort. At a lower level, when the Sun is afflicted, the individual will tend to avoid the small pebbles occasionally flying their way in the planet’s spheres; with a well-aspected Sun, they may passively enjoy a sensation akin to feeling the vibrations of a fast train on the upper bunk of a soft railway carriage; upon sudden braking, one might fall down, but the bones will remain intact. Pluto quincunx: There is enough hatred on Earth ready to blow it up. At a lower level, this is a rather harsh aspect, as the individual in the planet’s spheres is subject to the influence of both cosmic and earthly karmic cleansing programs, which are poorly aligned, so that the combined criticism may appear utterly destructive, and the overall picture of the corresponding areas will predominantly have dark tones. It should be noted that cosmic vision and cosmic aversion are entirely real sensations for this person within the planet’s domains, although they do not always interpret them correctly. For example, if the planet is placed in the first house, the personality traits it governs will dissatisfy the person from both earthly (social) and cosmic perspectives, and the combined effect can be extremely unpleasant, up to total cosmic hatred of any mirrors. The process of integration proceeds through careful differentiation between cosmic and earthly criticism, and primarily through grasping cosmic ethics and understanding the limits of its competence in earthly matters, which requires great inner purity within the planet’s spheres. Until this is achieved, and as long as the person tends to see evil primarily in the external world, they will receive rebound effects from the cosmic egregore, albeit through their own earthly horns. Successful integration brings cosmic vision and perfected methods of cleansing earthly circumstances, along with the ability to find the most harmonious way of developing earthly karma in cooperation with the higher cosmic egregore.
