Moon quincunx: What prevents a person from sensing God through the senses? Atheism. This individual will find it difficult to understand certain inner feelings, emotions, and physical states in the areas of the Planet. The cosmos grants him the ability to emotionally and physically sense its vibrations in these areas, but this requires a certain inner tuning and purity—specifically, of the physical and astral bodies. At a low level, this may manifest as ordinary earthly circumstances in the Planet’s spheres barely affecting the person emotionally, which may disturb him, as he may consider himself abnormal or deprived by fate. Yet attempts to experience the same emotions as others will end in failure and collapse. The correct approach, on the contrary, lies in eliminating coarse emotions and physical excesses in the Planet’s spheres and carefully attuning to (the only ones truly satisfying for the person) cosmic vibrations, subjectively perceived as superhuman, abstract, etc. For example, a Moon-Venus quincunx produces a person for whom ordinary social and sexual relationships do not bring deep satisfaction—they merely skim the surface of his feelings, and this is as it should be: in social interaction (and especially in love) he is attuned to subtle cosmic vibrations, and all his attempts to be “like everyone else” and profane them will end in disgust, while internally sowing despair, sorrow, and protest—understanding the true causes of which will be quite difficult for the person. Working through the Moon quincunx provides a subtle, instinctive attunement to cosmic radiations in the Planet’s spheres (a cosmic medium)—a person who can give much to others if he succeeds in internally, subconsciously accepting a cosmic ethics in these areas; however, this always implies enormous sacrifices from the ego. Mercury quincunx: Every word has its true meaning. This aspect gives a cosmic direction to thought in the Planet’s spheres, but this means not only an interest in science fiction, but also certain difficulties with earthly ways of understanding, which may cause the person many minor inconveniences, as the usual, socially accepted way of thinking will seem dull, insufficient, and unsatisfying to him. His own thoughts and reflections may seem objective and witty to the person, sometimes even an unconditional universal truth, but in reality they will most often turn out to be an eclectic mixture of weak earthly reasoning with an unmastered cosmic mind, from which extracting rational or healthy mystical seeds will be quite difficult. During periods of strong activation of the quincunx, the person will experience an inhuman flood of thoughts and may either fear them or, conversely, welcome them, depending on the major aspects of the quincunx and the chart as a whole, but learning to adapt to the cosmic nature of his thoughts and align them constructively with earthly circumstances will be a challenge for the person. If Mercury (and the chart overall) is afflicted, this may even lead to personality dissociation, delusions of cosmic grandeur or persecution, etc. Mastery requires, first, abandoning anthropocentric and geocentric views regarding the Planet’s spheres and developing a cosmic ethics within them, and second, carefully harmonizing cosmic, accentuated thinking with earthly problems—a task that will not be simple, but which ultimately can yield extraordinary creative abilities and cosmic orientation.
