Moon quintile: Ide, zander and bream are equally necessary for evolution, yet ide somehow tastes better. This aspect imparts inner liveliness and intrinsic interest in the areas governed by the planet, evoking in the individual a genuine emotional response and an impulse toward inner development in a new direction. The Moon’s affliction bestows great vital forces within the planet’s spheres, which, however, struggle to manifest outwardly, with likely frustrations akin to a poplar tree whose branches are pruned each spring—and even a good portion of its trunk. If this aspect remains unworked, instinctive vitality degenerates, becoming coarser and even vulgar; an unworked Moon is a master of profaning anything whatsoever. For example, the Moon-Venus quintile at a high level grants authentic, living art created instinctively by the individual, essentially an extension of their life; when people encounter this art, on one hand they recognize themselves and the world around them, and on the other, perceive it in the light of significantly higher vibrations (Venus—of aesthetics), and by intuitively (Moon) connecting to this stream, illuminate their inner and outer world, primarily. At a low level, this quintile signifies perceiving any living love and social relationships solely from the standpoint of physiology and self-interest, for instance, an attitude such as: “if a person doesn’t spend money on me and doesn’t want to sleep with me, the relationship is pointless.” Saturn quintile: Asceticism is the desire to focus on a single way of life. This aspect often brings in the planet’s spheres an interested-yet-skeptical attitude toward life manifestations. Deep down, the person very much wants life to grow and flourish, yet simultaneously perceives numerous obstacles, doubts success, and yet awaits it, becoming deeply saddened by life’s failures and victories of stagnation, though never missing an opportunity to say: “I told you nothing good would come of these undertakings.” However, the individual becomes a suppressor of life manifestations in the planet’s spheres only at the lowest level of working with the quintile and Saturn, especially when both are strongly afflicted due to deep traumas inflicted upon their vulnerable life-affirming feelings. Usually, this aspect softens Saturn’s rigidity, providing beneath an outward strictness and discipline a desire to preserve life within the expressions of the planetary principle and to allow it room for development. When Saturn is afflicted, the person will hold overly certain and dogmatic views about exactly how this life should be and precisely how it ought to animate the forms in which it arises; in harmonious cases, the person will know how and when to assist this life, though will often be too lazy to do so. Here, proper work brings deep understanding of what occurs within stagnant forms (especially the harshest and most difficult ones, such as mathematical and metal structures) when life begins to emerge within them, as well as insight into the developmental prospects of their specific manifestations, and knowledge of what kind of help each requires—and what kind would be unwelcome (an afflicted Saturn, without proper work, may suffocate).
