Moon quintile: Ide, zander, and bream are equally necessary for evolution, yet for some reason ide tastes better. This aspect imparts inner liveliness and intrinsic interest in the areas governed by the planet, evoking in the individual a genuine emotional response and an impulse toward inner development in a new direction. Affliction of the Moon brings great life force into the planet’s spheres, which, however, struggles to manifest outwardly, with possible frustrations akin to a poplar tree whose branches are pruned each spring—and even a good portion of its trunk. If this aspect remains unworked, instinctive vitality degenerates, becoming coarser and even vulgar; an unworked Moon is a master at profaning anything whatsoever. For example, the Moon-Venus quintile at a high level gives authentic, living art created instinctively by the person, essentially an extension of their life; when others perceive this art, on one hand they recognize themselves and the world around them, and on the other, they see it illuminated by significantly higher vibrations (Venus—of aesthetics), and intuitively (Moon) connecting to this stream, they illuminate their inner and outer world, primarily. At a low level, this quintile signifies perceiving any living loving or social relationships solely from the standpoint of physiology and self-interest, for instance, an attitude such as: “if a person doesn’t spend money on me and doesn’t want to sleep with me, the relationship is pointless.” Neptune quintile: The River of Life flowing into the Ocean of Universal Love originates in the swamp of Compassion. This aspect imparts vitality in meditation within the planet’s spheres; at a high level—true understanding of the planetary principle and all its manifestations. At a low level, especially when the quintile is afflicted, the individual will be interested and active primarily in parasitic forms of life connected with deception, false positions, and the secret use of another’s life force within the planet’s spheres. When Neptune is afflicted, the person may have a tendency toward the lowest forms of life available within that particular backward manifestation, and will then defend them to the detriment of others; here, work proceeds mainly in the inner world, and sometimes the individual must descend to the very bottom of the corresponding puddle in order to renounce the pleasures of dirty life (which they oppose to pure non-vitality), although occasionally half its depth suffices: the key is simply not to close one’s eyes to what is actually happening. A characteristic feature here is a subconscious sense of guilt before life in the planet’s spheres, which the person attempts to suppress or clumsily compensate for. Affliction of the planet under harmonious Neptune produces the rose-colored glasses effect: the person is happy with any manifestations of life in the planet’s spheres and finds it difficult to distinguish low from high, or to discern their combinations at all, thus potentially ending up in unpleasant situations, trying to defend what should not be defended from whom it should not be defended. A harmonious quintile gives mystical fascination with the planetary principle of life, combined with a certain passivity and a tendency to parasitize upon it; at a high level—ability to detect life under incredible conditions and assist its development.
