Mercury quintile: Mental flourishing hinders the blossoming of thought. This aspect grants in the areas of the Planet liveliness of mind and speech, which, if the quintile is afflicted, can cost the person very dearly, as their words may provoke sharply negative reactions from backward forms. At a high level, this is the aspect of the satirist; with major harmonious aspects of Mercury — the humorist, who may be not particularly humane in expression (“for a sharp word, won’t spare even one’s father”) — this is how the quintile differs from the decile. Affliction of Mercury brings difficulties in adequately verbalizing the natural quickness of thought, which will manifest in the person in the areas of the Planet; expressed thoughts will initially appear inappropriate or outright foolish, though sometimes unconventional and amusing, which the person will find hard to bear, even if they don’t necessarily show it. If the Planet is also afflicted, creating difficulties in its integration, the quintile will carry a heavy burden, and either the person adapts their lively mind to difficult Planetary issues and learns to resolve them, or their intellect loses inventiveness, freshness, and natural talent fades. In the harmonious variant, this quintile grants great mental abilities in the areas of the Planet — when the person chooses to apply them, ingenuity and constructive thinking, but also general passivity, which will gradually drown them out. Pluto quintile: When a young lamb appears in a dense forest teeming with predatory wolves, it is innocent, yet causes pleasant excitement. This is a highly ambiguous aspect, whose interpretation depends not only on the major aspects of Pluto and the Planet, but also on the person’s overall evolutionary level. Generally speaking, Pluto acts as an inspector of the quality and forms of life in the areas of the Planet, and the person will have to experience parting with some of them forever, which is better to reconcile with internally in time (after experiencing a certain grief). On the other hand, Pluto primarily destroys parasitic life forms, and after its influence, the person ultimately feels better, although inner worries and cockroaches, abundant among subconscious programs, sometimes appear in the person’s inner world quite attractive, at least if one doesn’t look at them closely, and separating from them (especially if the Planet is afflicted) feels like everything alive within is being killed, and only much later will they understand that it was not so. An afflicted Pluto makes this harsher and more abrupt; a harmonious one, gentler, but in any case, the experiences (at low and middle levels) will not be the most pleasant. This aspect grants sharp critical insight into life manifestations in the areas of the Planet, and if the quintile is afflicted, at a low level the person may become life’s dark teacher, destroying not only its parasites but in effect all other expressions as well (though they will likely think otherwise) — the aspect of Sodom and Gomorrah and AIDS.
