Venus-Saturn Sesquiquadrate

Venus-Saturn Semisquare

(Transit. Venus → Natal Saturn)

Avesalom Podvodnyi. Aspects

Venus semisquare: Flowers of evil, upon close inspection, usually turn out to be artificial. This aspect brings hidden rigidity and schematic thinking into social relationships within the planet’s sphere of influence. Outwardly, the person may appear perfectly adequate in social interactions, but close ones will sense an excess of internal formalism and predetermined notions about acceptable social situations—something the individual themselves perceives to a much lesser degree. This manifests especially clearly in love, where the person will repeatedly encounter one (rarely two) and the same scenario—a kind of matrix into which fate and the person themselves keep imprinting their lives and those of their partners—until this pattern becomes utterly unbearable, as it ultimately fails to provide satisfying emotional experiences, despite often appearing stable and seemingly functional. Attempts to forcibly disrupt the natural course of events either fail or lead to disaster. The resolution lies in shifting focus away from solving personal problems, particularly emotional and social dissatisfaction, and redirecting attention toward the problems of others. In doing so, the person will discover that what seems obvious and dull to them often proves interesting, useful, and necessary to someone else—provided they do not insist on it. Social clarity is a highly valuable quality, provided the person manages to make it an indirect rather than primary content of communication, and places it in service of higher goals and, most importantly, other people. Saturn semisquare: When drilling deeply into the well of the inner world, instead of a fountain of spirituality, oil may gush forth. This aspect is not as harsh as Saturn square, but more insidious, as it gives the person a sense of profound penetration into the areas ruled by the planet, though this depth is largely illusory, while the dogmatism of the methods used to achieve it is entirely real. For example, Saturn-Mercury semisquare produces a person who always knows how things should be, especially in Mercury-ruled domains; their thinking here is indirect, dogmatic, and unshakable, and proving its limitations to them is practically impossible. Saturn-Pluto semisquare, conversely, produces a person who knows how things should not be and knows exactly how to eliminate them, having—at least at a lower level—not the slightest doubt about it. As long as this person remains ego-centered, the planet’s sphere remains inaccessible to them, possibly even causing irritation when it refuses to fit into predefined frameworks; in reality, the person distorts it, while believing that everything they do—structuring, rationally limiting, wisely guiding onto the right path—serves the sphere exclusively for its benefit. If Saturn is afflicted, this semisquare may inflict deep psychological wounds, but their source—excessive rigidity in interaction with the planet’s spheres—will long remain unclear or invisible. Here, resolution requires great self-sacrifice and courageous deepening into the planet’s spheres through the eyes and in the interests of others, precisely when the person themselves has long considered everything clear and obvious. Only when they see the planet through others’ eyes, through the prism of others’ problems, and help resolve them, will the person be able to create something truly valuable, constructive, and reliable.
