Mercury’s semi-quintile: To express involvement, one must actually possess it. In the areas ruled by the Planet, the individual’s thought processes and particularly rational reasoning will tend toward humanitarian aspects of corresponding issues. Verbally, the person will demand a humane approach and will be easily offended by what they perceive as harsh remarks from others, interpreting them as inhumane. However, in this case, the connection between the Planet’s principle and Mercurial functions is weak; thus, on one hand, negative manifestations related to Mercury’s expressions (for example, offensive words) have little direct impact on the areas governed by the Planet, although the person may believe otherwise. On the other hand, Mercury’s positive influence on the individual and on human spheres corresponding to the Planet has only a weak direct effect, though the person may not even notice this. Therefore, one should either aim for subtle results or involve other planets to avoid appearing, from others’ perspective, as an empty talker and demagogue who only verbally cares for others’ well-being. Uranus’ semi-quintile: While developing a concept of humanism, one should not outpace their time. In the areas ruled by the Planet, the individual will have extraordinary and often fantastic humanitarian ideas, both regarding humanity as a whole and specific individuals. The semi-quintile will certainly soften Uranus’ influence, but the recipient of a humanitarian act will still need some time to recover, gathering the remnants of their sense of humor and comforting themselves with the thought that the person clearly meant well. Uranus’ semi-quintile also brings a certain humanism and protection of the individual’s fate in the areas governed by the Planet, yet again in Uranus’ characteristic style—often at the last moment or through a forceful energetic intervention. Much here depends on the level of integration of Uranus and on the ability and willingness to read and heed Uranian signs of fate. A brilliant example of skillfully interpreting the signs of Uranus’ semi-quintile was given by Ilya Muromets, who greeted visiting disabled travelers, thereby gaining heroic strength and accomplishing numerous humanitarian feats by the standards of his time. At a lower level, in the areas ruled by the Planet, the individual may be highly capricious and sensitive, perceiving completely innocent behaviors from others as inhumane toward themselves.
