Semi-quintile Saturn — Neptune
(Transit Saturn → Natal Neptune)
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Decile of Saturn: People’s misfortune lies not only in the fact that they do not understand their own happiness — they also fail to understand one another. The interpretation of the aspect depends on the level of processing of Saturn, the planet, and the horoscope as a whole. At a low or average level, this aspect brings to the spheres of the planet a kind of specific humanism — a desire to make people happy by imposing maximum restrictions on their freedom, which (in the person’s opinion) quickly turns into the freedom to do evil: both external and internal. In the spheres of the planet, this person sees human and humankind’s happiness in order, organization, rigid structure, and routine. If Saturn is afflicted, this can take horrifying forms (totalitarianism, bureaucracy); if harmonious, the person with humanitarian enthusiasm may, for example, participate in creating an artificial environment that separates humans from uncontrollable and anarchic nature — the builders of modern machine civilization. Processing of the aspect comes through deep study of human nature first and foremost as a fact of its inner life, and on this path, many profound truths can be grasped, especially if one begins the study with oneself and the structure of one’s inner world and subconscious in the spheres governed by the planet. Then the rigidity of humanitarian attitudes will be replaced by their depth; in particular, the person will rid themselves of painful experiences and the sense of their own vulnerability in the spheres related to the planet (for example, an unprocessed decile of Mars–Saturn gives a sense of human weakness and inability to resist aggression, but an acute effort of aggression, or rather, an acute sense of its inhumanity).
Decile of Neptune: In our time, it is very important to be known for one’s philanthropy. This aspect brings to the spheres of the planet’s influence compassion for people (primarily for oneself) and a desire to alleviate their suffering; at a low level, this is often done through deception (“a lie for salvation”) and drugs. The person themselves, acting in the spheres of the planet in an antihuman way, later experiences a strong sense of guilt and shame, so they try to avoid such situations even in small matters, or by manipulating the facts, convince themselves that what they did ultimately benefits others; however, when Neptune is activated, logical arguments help poorly. A processed aspect gives a deep understanding of the humanitarian aspects of the planetary principle and its humane use in the spheres of the planet’s influence; at a high level, it leads to a religious and mystical understanding of the human essence: prophets and religious philosophers of a humanitarian orientation. In general, this decile provides a soft protection of fate: when a person is already in a very bad situation in the spheres of the planet, they may (consciously or unconsciously) beg for help, and divine grace will ease their suffering. With a strong Neptune, it is not easy to distinguish humanity toward others from inhumanity in the spheres of the planet, and here the person needs to be attentive.
