Sun Sesquiquadrate Moon

Sesquiquadrate Sun — Moon

(Transit. Sun → Natal Moon)

Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects

Sesquiquadrate of the Sun: A person must do God’s will, yet still must consider that it is his own. This aspect makes a person’s will in the spheres of the planet imperfect, sometimes too crude an instrument. His initiatives often prove too straightforward (if the Sun is in Pisces or Cancer, the person will, accordingly, be too openly and awkwardly avoiding responsibility and hiding in his shell). If inclined to self-observation, he may sometimes feel that his will is mixed with something alien, deliberately crude and harsh. A similar effect is observed in imperative external circumstances that do not directly oppose or openly obstruct (a sesquiquadrate is not a square), but prove unfavorably rigid and often actually destroy the most interesting, promising, or attractive moments for the person in the spheres of the planet. If external conditions are favorable, an inner demon suddenly awakens, harshly roughening things up, and the person cannot cope with it at the level of his lower will. Here, the work involves forming ideals and incorporating higher will and higher direction, as well as carefully analyzing the subconscious programs that govern the interaction of the principles of will and the planet: somewhere here (hints should be sought in situations of simultaneous activity of the houses occupied by the Sun and the planet) the ego is deeply entrenched, buried in evolutionary programs far below the person’s evolutionary level. Processing requires awareness and transformation of this program, after which the person gains the ability to exercise clear and subtle volitional control in the spheres of the planet. At a low level, this is an aspect of dictators who possess a rigid apparatus of external suppression, and their victims.

Sesquiquadrate of the Moon: In callous people, the heart has an iron shell; in sensitive people, a plastic one. This aspect gives a general inner clumsiness and crudeness of perception, as well as reflexive skills, in the spheres of the planet. For example, with a sesquiquadrate Mars–Moon, at a low level, a person best understands the language of teeth-grinding and is inclined to express himself the same way, which also applies to his inner life—this person will be very harsh with himself, may persecute, corner, reshape without anesthesia, etc. In the spheres of the planet, at a low level, this person may provoke irritation in others with what they perceive as his callousness and a tendency to straightforwardly ignore everything he dislikes, focusing only on his (usually crude) needs and satisfying them with ironclad determination. The person himself, as a rule, does not notice any of this but may (far from always!) feel the negative attitude of others, withdraw into his egoism, and consider their claims unfair, unfounded, and incomprehensible. Here, processing is indeed difficult and requires a strong desire to grow and overcome inner crudeness; it is very hard to bring it into consciousness, as the subconscious censor here is crude (as are the programs themselves) and often simply erases large chunks, leaving glaring white spots in memory and perception (the person says: “I don’t remember that, even if you kill me… I somehow didn’t notice this at all—it’s strange”). Processing here grants the ability to exercise clear and subtle remote control over the corresponding fragments of the subconscious in the spheres of the planet.
