Sun sesquiquadrate: It is not enough for a person to carry out God’s will; he must also believe that it is his own. This aspect makes the person’s will in the planet’s spheres an insufficiently refined, sometimes overly crude instrument. His initiatives often turn out to be too straightforward (if the Sun is in Pisces or Cancer, the person will accordingly be overly blunt and often awkwardly avoid responsibility, hiding within his shell); and for those inclined toward self-observation, it may sometimes seem that a foreign, deliberately coarse will is mixing with his own. A similar effect is observed in imperative external circumstances, which are not exactly openly hostile or directly obstructive (a sesquiquadrate is not a square), but are unfavorably rigid and often actually destroy the most interesting, promising, or appealing moments for the person within the planet’s spheres; and if the external situation is favorable, an inner demon suddenly activates, harshly coarsening the will, which the person cannot overcome at the level of lower will. Here, working through the aspect proceeds along the lines of forming ideals and engaging higher will and higher orientation, as well as careful analysis of subconscious programs governing the interaction between the will principle and the planet: somewhere here (a clue should be sought in situations of simultaneous activity of the houses occupied by the Sun and the planet) lies deeply entrenched ego, buried in evolutionary strata significantly lower than the person’s own evolutionary level. Processing requires awareness and transformation of this program, after which the person gains the ability for precise and subtle volitional control within the planet’s spheres. At a low level, this is the aspect of dictators possessing a rigid apparatus of external suppression, and their victims. Uranus sesquiquadrate: God does not wish His existence to be established by scientific methods, as they appear to Him insufficiently convincing. This aspect produces in the planet’s spheres a partially awkward attitude toward Uranian revelations—meaning the person processes them crudely and without proper respect, as a result of which they usually perish, just as Uranian signs do. For example, the Moon-Uranus sesquiquadrate allows for subtle diagnosis of one’s own (and others’) physical illnesses, and at a higher level, the person may learn to use their body as an extremely refined diagnostic instrument for physical fields, to predict earthquakes, etc., but all this requires great effort, particularly careful study of one’s biological reactions and their interpretation as reflections of external physical reality, and sometimes of one’s own karma. At a low level, the Uranus sesquiquadrate produces in the planet’s sphere unexpected whims and stubbornness, adherence to often clumsy ideas poorly suited to solving relevant problems—in unprocessed form, this is the aspect of mad inventors with incomplete education; at a high level, inventions succeed, and the person may create astonishing devices, tools, and methods far ahead of their time, although the true meaning of their discoveries will most likely remain incomprehensible to them.
