Tridecile of Saturn: In seeking the meaning of another’s life, one may occasionally discover the value of one’s own. When worked through, this aspect gives a person the opportunity for deep and serious engagement with the life areas of the Planet, and in any case a strong (often unconscious or repressed) desire to participate in this life, where the individual may find self-expression—though always limited and hindered in the spheres ruled by Saturn and its aspects. As a rule, this aspect makes a person fearful, insecure, and extremely cautious toward any manifestations of life perceived as intimately connected with them personally. In the harmonious variant, this insecurity quickly passes, but caution and conscientiousness remain, and combined with the depth of aspirations, often lead to full immersion in the life areas and developmental fields of the Planet, a profound understanding of relevant issues, and constructive help in resolving them—if the person begins to engage with them. If Saturn is afflicted, the person’s insecurity regarding themselves and the life areas of the Planet will prove justified; initially, they will feel very awkward and out of place, suffering as a result, yet simultaneously (when the tridecile is activated) will desire contact with this life and comprehension of its developmental challenges with redoubled intensity. Working through this aspect will bring deep understanding, the ability to offer adequate assistance, and human satisfaction from it. Tridecile of Pluto: When governing the destinies of nations, one should not forget one’s own. This aspect potentially provides clear insight into the flaws and defects in the development of life within the Planet’s spheres, and when Pluto is afflicted, the person may perceive only these flaws, resulting in an overall rather gloomy picture. A harmonious Pluto will grant the individual great capacity for effectively treating these ills, particularly eliminating parasitic life forms, from which they may derive great satisfaction. For example, a well-developed Pluto-Moon tridecile may produce an excellent physician (especially with a strong sixth or twelfth house), while a Pluto-Venus tridecile may create a harsh art critic, biting satirist, or, with a strong Mercury, a journalist who lashes out at societal sores. At a lower level, criticism of life development in the Planet’s spheres may become destructive and largely unjust, yet usually stems from good intentions and aims for the greater good, even if it does not always achieve it, especially when the Planet is afflicted. With severe damage to the tridecile, tendencies toward black teaching of life manifestations may emerge—conscious destruction of such manifestations, but usually at the lowest level, as a consequence of personal frustrations accompanied by painful failures when attempting to discover (within the Planet’s spheres) life development in their inner world and express it outwardly.
