Mercury biquintile: When you cast a line, bait usually bites. At low and medium levels, this aspect gives the individual in the planet’s spheres an appearance of rational understanding of lower forms of life and a mental interest in them. However, their thoughts in this direction will be marked by a certain liveliness, and with a harmonious Mercury, they may prove useful—at least, the charm of their speech will not be wasted, and skill in organizing the functioning of lower life for personal benefit may be extraordinary: this is the aspect of the colonizer. An afflicted biquintile of Mercury-Pluto may produce a ruthless slave trader, though this is rather an exception; at the medium level, the person still attempts, albeit condescendingly, to treat natives humanely, to develop (to the extent possible) their rational thinking and appeal to it. If Mercury is afflicted, this will initially fail—someone with such a biquintile may seriously attempt to appeal to the logic and reason of a one-year-old child. If the planet is afflicted, the person’s rational reasoning, despite being entirely correct, will be ineffective, and they will have to rely on intuition and innate humanity, which may suggest a behavior that is logically not obvious but accurate in the most complicated situations. Mars biquintile: You don’t beat those who lie down—you walk over them and wipe your feet. This aspect grants in the planet’s spheres activity and energy directed toward interaction with lower forms of life. Mars afflicted makes this energy destructive, though the person will not notice this immediately and may sincerely believe that everything they do toward lower life benefits it (although it, being foolish and ungrateful, often fails to understand and attempts to protest). If the planet is also afflicted, the person may become a tormentor of lower life, a cruel governor (a more prosaic example, e.g., with Mars-Mercury biquintile—a strict schoolteacher who suppresses any expression of students’ lives and is aggressively dissatisfied with their knowledge in their subject). In its harmonious form, this aspect allows one to easily find an adequate way to participate in the affairs of lower forms of life and, with minimal effort, gain great dividends; however, one should not speculate on this, otherwise the opportunities to express and develop humanity within oneself will be irreversibly lost. Proper integration leads to energetic and skillful participation in the development of imperfect life, while simultaneously allowing the individual to grow, gaining the opportunity to soften their own lower aggressive subconscious programs by directing energy in a more cultured and constructive way.
