Sun Sesquiquadrate Neptune
(Transit Sun → Natal Neptune)
Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects
Sun sesquiquadrate: It is not enough for a person to fulfill God’s will; he must also believe that it is his own. This aspect makes the person’s will in the planet’s spheres an insufficiently refined, sometimes overly crude instrument. His initiatives often turn out to be too direct (if the Sun is in Pisces or Cancer, the person will accordingly avoid responsibility too openly and often awkwardly, hiding within his shell); and for those inclined to self-observation, it may sometimes seem that a foreign, deliberately coarse will is mixing with their own. A similar effect is observed in imperative external circumstances, which are not exactly openly hostile or directly obstructive (a sesquiquadrate is not a square), but are unfavorably rigid and often actually destroy the most interesting, promising, or appealing moments for the person within the planet’s spheres; and if the external situation is favorable, an inner demon suddenly activates, coarsening things harshly—something the person cannot handle at the level of lower will. Here, work proceeds along the lines of forming ideals and integrating higher will and higher direction, as well as carefully analyzing subconscious programs that govern the interaction between the will principle and the planet: somewhere here (a clue should be sought in situations of simultaneous activity of the houses occupied by the Sun and the planet) lies deeply entrenched ego, buried in evolutionary ground far below the person’s own evolutionary level. Processing requires awareness and transformation of this program, after which the person gains the ability for clear and subtle volitional control within the planet’s spheres. At a low level, this is the aspect of dictators who possess a rigid apparatus of external suppression, and their victims. Neptune sesquiquadrate: An idolater in any religion is an idolater. At a low level of processing, this person will clumsily lie or fall into mistaken situations within the planet’s spheres, perceiving this as inevitable and sometimes even constructive. For example, an unprocessed Jupiter-Neptune sesquiquadrate will likely make a person susceptible to flattery, which may become his primary weapon—yet one that frequently betrays him, though difficult for him to recognize. At a low level, this aspect imposes overly rigid boundaries of understanding and overly fixed meditative paths within the planet’s spheres, usually quite low ones, which the person nevertheless considers exemplary and precisely leading where they should. For instance, a Moon-Neptune sesquiquadrate may establish once and for all a specific rest ritual involving alcohol consumption, drunken quarrels, and hangovers the next day, rendering any other recreational ideas inconceivable to the person. At a high level, the person grasps subtle paths of development within the planet’s spheres and revitalizes meditative ways; for example, worn prayer paths become overgrown with living flowers of delicate, fluid, and never-repeating religious feelings and experiences—this is the path of saints who transcend the dogma of the official church.
