Sun Sesquiquadrate Neptune

Sun Semi-Square Neptune

(Transit Sun → Natal Neptune)

Avesalom Podvodny. Aspects

Sun Semi-Square: The person must do God’s will, yet still needs to consider that it is their own. This aspect makes the person’s will in the areas governed by the planet imperfect, sometimes too crude a tool. Their initiatives often prove too straightforward (if the Sun is in Pisces or Cancer, the person will, accordingly, be overly blunt or awkwardly evasive, hiding in their shell to avoid responsibility). If inclined toward self-observation, they may sometimes feel that their will is mixed with something foreign, deliberately crude and harsh. A similar effect is observed in imperative external circumstances, which may not be outright hostile or openly obstructive (a semi-square is not a square), but are unnaturally rigid and often destroy the most promising or attractive moments in the areas governed by the planet. If external conditions are favorable, an internal demon suddenly awakens, brutally roughening the situation beyond the person’s lower willpower to handle. Here, the work involves forming ideals and incorporating higher will and higher purpose, along with a thorough analysis of subconscious programs that govern the interaction between the principles of will and the planet: somewhere here (hint: look in the houses occupied by the Sun and the planet) the ego is deeply entrenched, buried in evolutionary patterns far below the person’s actual level. Processing requires awareness and transformation of this program, after which the person gains the ability to exercise precise and refined volitional control in the areas governed by the planet. At a low level, this aspect manifests in dictators who wield harsh external suppression and their victims.

Semi-Square of Neptune: An idolater in any religion. At a low level of processing, this person will clumsily lie or fall into delusional positions in the areas governed by the planet, perceiving this as inevitable or even constructive. For example, an unprocessed semi-square between Jupiter and Neptune may make a person susceptible to flattery, which they may weaponize, often leading to their own downfall, though they struggle to recognize this. At a low level, this aspect imposes overly rigid boundaries of understanding and overly rigid meditation paths—often quite low-level—which the person, however, will consider exemplary and leading exactly where they should. For instance, a semi-square between the Moon and Neptune may lock a person into a lifelong ritual of relaxation involving alcohol, drunken scandals, and hangovers the next day, with any other form of recreation seeming unimaginable. At a high level, the person discovers subtle paths of development in the areas governed by the planet and revitalizes meditation practices; for example, trampled prayer paths bloom with the living flowers of subtle, fluid, and never-repeated religious feelings and experiences—this is the path of saints who transcend the dogma of the official church.
