Ventilate the room. If you wish, play calming music. Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes. Focus on your breathing, feel its rhythm.
Imagine the place where you would like to meet. Feel every detail, down to the touch of the wind on your skin and the scent of flowers around. Once you feel at ease in this setting, gently call your little one. You may call him or her the way your mother used to call you in childhood.
Wait. You will know when he or she appears.
The child may behave unpredictably—hide or refuse to speak with you. Do not lose patience; first, tell the child that you missed him or her, but do not pressure. Offer what you have prepared for him or her.
Ask simple questions to the child. Do not insist on answers.
If you see that the child is open to contact, suggest playing something he or she wants or something you enjoyed in your childhood.
If you notice that the child is tired, say goodbye and promise to meet again soon.
